Why don’t more investors and working people fund diverse founders? Because diverse founders are so underrepresented they’re not seen, not obvious, and not widely sought, known, or sourced. Here are some ways allies can celebrate Juneteenth: Support Black-owned businesses: You can support Black-owned restaurants, cafes, small businesses, artists, authors, poets, and leaders. Educate yourself on Black history: You can read a Juneteenth reading list, listen to podcasts, or visit a Black history museum. Learning about the history of Juneteenth and racial discrimination can help you challenge oppressive structures and work towards equity, inclusion, and anti-racism. Donate: You can donate to organizations that support Black causes, such as Black Girls Code or the Loveland Foundation. You can also ask employees to donate and match their donations dollar for dollar #juneteenth #allyship #dei

Someone once told me that I did not have the personality to be a fundraiser. Now, she didn’t give me any specifics but I’m assuming she was referring to my quiet disposition and introversion. I am unassuming in most situations. I don’t make a big splash. And so for many years, I thought I had to be a charismatic, charming, captivating storyteller in order to raise money. And while that may work for some people, what I’ve realized is that my introspection, ability to listen more than I speak, and my genuine interest in other people’s stories, has helped me to be a good fundraiser. Just last month, I helped a Black-led organization secure a $1million gift. So for any young introverted fundraisers out there, who may be questioning their ability to raise money for the communities they serve, charm can be deceptive but your quiet sincerity and integrity will take you a long way. #S.M.A.R.T Black Philanthropy #Fundraising ****************************************************************************** Beyond Wordz raises funds for Black led movements. Black fundraisers are being driven out of the sector. "These individuals play a crucial role in generating resources for charities, yet many are leaving their roles, citing the various challenges they face. The reasons behind this exodus shed light on the systemic issues that need to be addressed to ensure diversity and equity within the charity sector." The reason black businesspersons, athletes, entertainers, and other professional descendants of slaves who are wealthy, give large donations to predominantly white colleges, all-black colleges, charities, and churches, is because there is no program, charity, or church that these powerful people can give to that exclusively addresses the special needs of their people, the descendants of American Slaves. If there were such an organization, optimistically, these influential people would support it. When I realized I had been filling the pockets of charities and helping the wrong people, it hurt me deeply because I had been blindly watching my own community of people suffer, but I didn't know what I was looking at. It was whites who taught me how to be a successful American minority. It was also whites who taught me how to decrease my tax liability by giving money to charity to help my community, but not one time did they tell me that I was a slave! When I became aware of my identity and realized that my funds were being used to help most everyone else, instead of my own people, I made myself a promise. I will help American Slaves---exclusively ---until we are truly freed, or until my demise. Hopefully, I am not the only descendant of slaves who feels this way. The National Lottery Community Fund enables us to deliver a whole range of support services across the Black Country through our partnership working. The work we do makes a difference and we are happy that we can help people to create positive change in their lives. Through our person-centred approach, we are able to support people to make the small changes which lead to big impact. With our holistic employability support hundreds of people are also going on to achieve their goals and aspirations, entering or re-entering work and/or education and training. We also know that for most people, being able to find work or increase their chances of gaining sustainable employment is crucial in helping them build independent, stable lives. Since 2021 The National Lottery Community Fund has enabled us to collaborate on projects which supported 1,734 Black Country Residents, with approximately 1 in 3 people supported moving into training or employment, and over a thousand people increasing their self-esteem, confidence, wellbeing and motivation. https://lnkd.in/dwM4tJ54

An investment in the Center for Economic Inclusion is an investment in people who are changing policies and practices, increasing wages and working to improve spend with Black, Indigenous, Latine and Asian-owned businesses. Now is the time!
