If you're seeking therapy, know this: The company your therapist works for can make a world of difference in your care. Once upon a time, therapists might have varied in style, approach, and experience, but you could still expect a certain standard of care across the board. That's not really the case anymore. Now, depending on the company, your therapist might be seeing 30+ people a week while earning just $30/hour. They could have little control over who they see, when they see them, and might not be getting the much-needed time off to rest and reflect. Imagine being deep into a therapy journey and suddenly losing all contact with your therapist because the company decides to lay them off without a word of warning. So here's my unfiltered advice: It's high time we recognize that the companies employing therapists play a GIGANTIC role in the level of care you receive. Those considering therapy, please do your homework. Investigate companies that truly value, respect, and compensate their therapists fairly. Why? Because a well-treated therapist translates into better care for YOU. #mentalhealth #therapy #consciousconsumer

Founder at Kindred; Consulting with Purpose | Trauma-Informed Mental Health Consulting | Trauma-Informed Supervision | Accredited Social Worker
I was researching various EAP providers for a number of clients last year and one of the first questions I asked was ‘what support do you have in place for your clinicians?’ Every single provider I spoke with said to me 1 - no one ever asked them that question and 2 - they weren’t sure and would get back to me 😂 How can we expect therapists/psychologists/social workers or anyone working in professions where they’re priority is to care for others do their job well…when they themselves are not cared for, resourced and appropriately remunerated by the organisations they work for? #workplacewellbeing #traumainformedcare #traumainformedorganisations #mentalhealth #socialwork #kindredconsulting

When someone is struggling and also in therapy, a narrative I hear often is that they must need a new therapist. Now, to be fair, there are all types of therapists, to include folks who aren't very good at what they do. But what is more likely, is that the client is not ready to do the work that everyone else thinks they should do, rather than what they are actually ready to do themselves. As someone who has been in therapy off and on for many years (practice what you preach!), I can tell you that what I have learned and found effective from each round of therapy has been different, because I was only ready at certain times in my life to explore certain things. We can only go as far in therapy as clients as we are ready to, and it can be a process. Of course, sometimes therapy is a one round experience where the client gets what they need and moves on, but each person is different as I see every week with the clients I work with. It's important to focus on what you feel is most important to you because this is when you get the most benefit from therapy. Remember that efficacy can look different at different times, and that's okay, as long as you're doing the work you feel is most important to you and helping you to move forward. #therapy #mentalhealth #telehealth monicagocial.com

💡 Tip for Therapy Intensives: Involve clients in scheduling discussions to accommodate their needs. Intensives are a significant time commitment, so giving clients the opportunity to pick times that fit well with their lives helps them stay stress-free and fully engaged. This not only demonstrates respect and builds a stronger relationship but also means clients are more likely to show up consistently and get the most out of their sessions. Plus, by considering their availability, therapists show they truly care and understand, making the whole process more client-focused and effective. With that said, it's equally important to be aware of and communicate your own time/scheduling boundaries! #therapyintensives #intensivetherapy #smarternotharder #winwin #therapistsuccess #traumatherapist #therapistsofinstagram #counselorsofinstagram #onlinetherapist #onlinetherapy #moderntherapist #therapist #therapistcoaching #therapistcommunity #traumainformedcare

Some people wonder if they should choose IOP over individual therapy? But actually, there is no need to choose. Both offer invaluable things. In fact, we help connect each of our clients in group with an individual therapist. Some benefits of individual therapy: - This is time focused just on you. For many, this is the only time in their lives that they are not caring for others, pulled in several directions at once, or subjected to others’ emotional reactions about how they feel. This is time to breathe, to focus solely on you. - You are able to go more deeply into your own mind and emotions. In group, you may choose to share more carefully about sensitive topics. Also, time doesn’t allow for the depth of processing that can occur one-on-one. - Due to the private setting, you can develop a strong connection and trust with your therapist. The most important thing for any therapeutic relationship to work is a good connection. When you develop a trust and level of respect with your therapist, you can depend on a sense of safety and support, may have something to look forward to, and feel there is someone in the world who understands and accepts you on a deeper level that you don’t show to just anyone. Now, sometimes individual therapy is enough. But there are times in life where you need more support. Where you need need concentrated time to learn about yourself, build a blueprint for how things can get better, and to think without so much stress. This is what attending IOP can provide. Call our office at 314-388-2225 to learn more. #therapy #mentalhealth #connection #healing

Unlock the Power of Effective Therapy! 💡 In therapy, embracing certain practices can significantly enhance your journey towards healing and personal growth. Here's why prioritizing these elements is crucial: 1️⃣ Setting Healthy Boundaries: Establishing clear boundaries ensures that you feel safe and respected in therapy. By communicating your needs and boundaries openly, you create a supportive environment where genuine progress can occur. 2️⃣ Embracing Vulnerability: Vulnerability is the gateway to deeper self-understanding and emotional healing. Instead of shying away from difficult emotions, allowing yourself to be vulnerable fosters authenticity and facilitates meaningful connections with your therapist. 3️⃣ Practicing Transparency: Honesty is fundamental in therapy. Transparent communication enables your therapist to provide tailored support and guidance based on your true experiences and emotions, ultimately leading to more effective outcomes. 4️⃣ Building Trust: Trust forms the cornerstone of the therapeutic relationship. By cultivating trust through open communication and mutual respect, you create a safe space where you can explore your innermost thoughts and feelings without judgment. Prioritizing these elements in therapy can empower you to navigate life's challenges with resilience and clarity. Remember, your therapist is here to support and guide you on your journey towards holistic well-being. 🌟 #TherapyJourney #PersonalGrowth #EmotionalHealing #mentalhealthmatters #mentalhealthawareness #therapy #therapist #therapists #therapyworks #linkedin #miptherapy

“Please remember, as therapists, we are very much part of the equation.” 🧩 “You can take your client only as far as you yourself have been.” 🚶♀️🚶♂️ Have you ever wondered about the concept of self-care for therapists? 🤔 It’s an intriguing thought. As therapists, we are often perceived as the guiding light for others, navigating through their challenges. 🌊 But what about our own wellbeing? The necessity for therapists to engage in therapy themselves is a topic worth exploring. 🌱 In this noble profession, we frequently confront our own shadows while endeavoring to be a beacon of hope for others. 💡 This dual role of personal and professional development makes self-care not just beneficial, but essential. 🌺 How can we effectively guide others if our own light is dimming? How can we fill others’ cups if ours are empty? 🥛➡️🥛 Acknowledging our humanity, recognizing that we are not infallible gurus, is crucial. 🙌 It’s about giving ourselves the same support and compassion we advocate for our clients. By doing so, we not only thrive personally but also honor the sacredness of our profession. 🎗️ I’d love to hear your thoughts on this. How do you perceive the role of therapist’s own self-care in therapy? 💬👂 #TherapistSelfCare #MentalHealthAwareness #SelfCareInTherapy #TherapistJourney #HealthcareProfessionals #EmbracingHumanity
