#RenzoPiano “Architecture is the art of making shelter for communities, not just for individuals, communities… and society are never the same; the world keeps changing, and changes are difficult to swallow for people. Architecture is the mirror of these changes.” Renzo Piano’s statement underscores the essence of architecture as a discipline that transcends individual needs to address the broader requirements of communities. He acknowledges the ever-changing nature of society, suggesting that as the world evolves, people often struggle to adapt to these changes. Architecture, in this context, acts as a reflective surface, capturing and displaying the transformations occurring within society. It serves as both a record of change and a facilitator of adaptation, helping communities navigate and embrace the inevitable shifts in their environments. By mirroring these changes, architecture not only provides physical shelter but also contributes to the cultural and social continuity of communities. #RenzoPiano #Architecture #CommunityShelter #EvolvingSociety #ArchitecturalChange #ReflectingSociety #CulturalContinuity #BuiltEnvironment #DesignForCommunities #ArchitecturalArt #ChangeInArchitecture #SocietalEvolution #ArchitectureAndChange #ArchitecturalMirror

The Virginia General Assembly Building is a beautiful restoration project on which we had the privilege of working and collaborating. Needing to be complementary to the original 1912 structure’s façade, a seamless match of color, finish, and profile alignment was required and critical to the project's success. Our architectural precast was designed to incorporate a large stonework pattern and was jointed to disguise joints and avoid disruptions in the pattern. Reminiscent of the Doric order of Greek architecture, some of the precast panels have architectural features like the guttae that can be found along the edge of various panels. The restoration of this historic piece of governmental architecture demonstrates how architectural precast can be used for new building façades in historic contexts. Architects: RAMSA | Robert A.M.
