The Value of Volunteering 🌎 Since December, I've been volunteering on the Saturday morning’s at Stichting ROZE (Regionale Opvang Zwerfdieren Eindhoven), where I help in the dog department. This experience has brought me a lot, and I'd like to share some of the benefits of volunteering: 1. Stress Reduction: Volunteering provides a welcome break from the daily routine and helps reduce stress. Working with animals has a calming effect and brings a sense of peace. And if that isn’t convincing enough, the sight of the dogs’ faces often seals the deal. 2. Contributing to the Future of Shelter Animals: It feels good to contribute to the care and well-being of shelter animals. By volunteering, I help them on their way to a better life and a new home, which is incredibly rewarding. 3. Insight into Non-Profit Collaboration: Working at Stichting ROZE has given me insight into how a non-profit organization can achieve a lot with the support of volunteers. It's inspiring to see how passionate people come together to achieve common goals and make a positive impact. I encourage everyone to consider volunteering, whether it's at an animal organization or elsewhere that interests you. It's a valuable way to give back to the community and experience personal growth at the same time.

NEW REPORT: About half the people living in our biggest cities don’t have access to frequent, convenient and reliable public transport, leaving them stuck using polluting, expensive cars and stuck in traffic. But the good news is we have a BIG opportunity to improve our cities by giving more Aussies the chance to use shared and active transport - things like public transport, rideshare, bike riding or walking - to get around. If more people use shared and public transport options in our biggest cities more often, we can slash climate pollution from transport, cut the cost of living, make our streets safer, and clean up our air. 🌍 It's World Environment Day! As a travel business, at Attraction World Group | AWG we realise that we have a great responsibility to care for the world we live in and give back to Mother Nature. That's why we have implemented new policies: 🍃 Plant a Tree - we have recently planted a tree for each booking we received on #WorldEarthDay show our dedication to the planet. 🍃 Partnering with On Hand, our team members are able to sign up for volunteering opportunities through the app in their local area, as well as make steps at home to reduce and track their carbon footprint! 🍃 Charitable events - as a company, we are passionate about giving back to the local community. Many members of our team have leapt at the chance to immerse themselves in local charities like St Basils and Birmingham Children's Hospital 🍃 Sustainable travel - we have seen an increase in team members opting for more sustainable travel into the office. Birmingham is a busy city and therefore busses and trains are becoming a better option. 🍃 Taking steps to a more sustainable office - it's the little things that can make a big difference. When designing Mileway’s ESG strategy, we aligned our thinking with the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals, including number 11: ‘Building sustainable cities and communities’. Helping out in the places where we operate is a win-win – for us, our customers, our employees and all the people who live and work nearby. Our Mileway Acts programme, launched April 2023, lets employees suggest local charities and initiatives for us to support, as long as they focus on inclusive education, or building sustainable urban environments. It’s one way in which we are fulfilling our commitment to give all Mileway employees the chance to get involved in community engagement. Comment a highlight from your work this month too 😊 🥛 Mark Breen and the plant milk team have been flirting big time, nudging London to make a move - on plant milk that is. The campaign launched this month encouraging people to try it in their next hot drink, because as well as tasting surprisingly smooth, oat almond and soy milk generate at least 68% less greenhouse gasses than dairy. Are you ready to #FindYourOooh without the moo? Take a break after reading this and grab a cuppa. You know what to do.   🌳 The Greener Communities Fund awarded over £1 million to eight new projects from its second round of funding. The fund supports NHS charities that will be developing green spaces within healthcare settings, including ideas like turning unused land into sensory gardens, and designing spaces for nature-based rehabilitation. ⚽️ Alex Robinson dropped word on the street that our #BigBallotBins might be heading back to the streets! These voting bins trialled on street for just a few weeks, reached over 10 million people and caused quite a stir with the questions they prompted. Now, excitingly... they might be coming back.
