For me, 30 companies in 40 years. Pretty much all VC startups. Founded 2. Never tagged as a job hopper. It was all by design and on purpose. Kept to my personal mission since age 22. Allowed me to visit 40 countries, conduct business in 20, live/work in 7 as well as live/work in 21 cities in 9 USA states. The diversity of experience was invaluable. The change immense and enlightening. Oh yeah, some stress but that's life in reality. If you want to work (like some of my friends and biz assoc) for 1 co for 40 yrs or 4 co's at 10 yrs each, also with stress - to each his own. By many measures, my path was quite successful. No need of a warning here as I am not the exception. And multi-millionaire and retire early, is that really the benchmark? Seems kinda low. I retired at age 22. I don't brag about my money. Your career trajectory is yours, not from some model. Jamal is a good guy and offers some good coaching in other areas. Pay attention and follow him.
