Wow 😮 I did not see this one coming, however quite the strategic play being this Group together. Given Debbie Crosbie’s previously working knowledge of CYBG / Virgin Money this is quite a clever move. Create super Groups made up of the small brands will hopefully bring about a more competitive ability to challenge the Big 4 on the High Street. I like the idea of the brands remaining and Nationwide remaining a mutual. Good thinking on their part in terms of creating brand loyalty. Thumbs up 👍 from me if this can be brought to life. #changemanagement #transformationalleadership #banking #customerloyalty #brandloyalty #mergersandacquisitions Project One

It’s interesting as during the 2008 finance collapse I remember suggesting that they bring together a conglomeration of mid-tier banks so as to create security and a fighting fund. It feels like it’s taken a long time to come back around d to the same conclusion. Maybe thoughts should turn to including Metro Bank in this solution?

Certainly are very good business decision if they can get it over the line. Not sure the term big four on the High Street can be used anymore as there are very few of the so-called big four still on the High Street. Debbie Crosbie always appears an astute operator at Nationwide. If they continue their commitment to retain existing branches, as part of our 'Branch Promise' I am sure they will win more customers.
