Our mental health is just like our physical health—it fluctuates. At a recent CIPD Scotland event, Lesley Malcolm shared that "1 in 4 people will suffer a mental health issue in any one year. 1 in 6 people in the workplace will suffer a mental health issue and the majority will be 'in work'." So, how do we create a psychologically safe space for our colleagues? Be thoughtful and considerate; think about your impact on others and the consequences of your actions (or inaction). Self-care and support for others, showing compassion, will be crucial as we transition to new ways of working.

“How are you, really?” Mental health isn’t a one-time event. Mental health is a part of being human. As Men’s Mental Health Month draws to a close, let's remember that supporting mental health is a year-round commitment. We all face challenges, and it's important for everyone to feel comfortable seeking help. It's not about being judged or perceived differently – it's about creating a “safe place” where sharing is encouraged. Here are some important reminders from this month: ↳ Mental health struggles can be silent: Check in on your mates. Your family members. Your co-workers. ↳ Talk openly: A simple “How are you, really?” can be incredibly powerful. It's an invitation for deeper conversations. It's about showing genuine interest and care and creating an environment where people feel safe enough to share their truth. ↳Support each other: Sometimes a listening ear is the best help we can offer. Because sometimes, all someone needs is to feel heard. We believe in creating a culture here at @cleancorp for both the men and women on the team, can speak openly and honestly without judgment. AND particularly to all the men out there: Your mental health matters. Taking care of it is a sign of strength and self-awareness. Because, you’re not alone.

Mental health has become an increasingly important issue in recent years, as people grapple with rising stress levels, anxiety, and depression. The World Health Organization (WHO) reported that in 2019, 15% of working adults were diagnosed with a mental disorder. However, this percentage has since risen due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which triggered a 25% increase in stress and anxiety-related disorders according to the WHO. In the workplace, these issues can have a significant impact on productivity, morale, and the overall well-being of employees
