https://lnkd.in/e-tpZjtU#Grave ; not as the final resting place of bodily remains, but as a thing of consequence --- a depth in a sequence of events, a lapse in reasoning perhaps?
This is the #18thChapter of an #AntiNovel that attaches many elements: people, words, music, -- oh, music.
#TateMcRae#Grave --- this is the second time a Tate McRae has been used as a introductionary element.

A Little History of the Philco Predicta Debutante … In 1959 Philco Predicta made in several models by the Philco company in the late 1950s. The Predicta was marketed as the world’s first swivel screen television. The Predicta had a thinner picture tube than many other televisions at the time, which led it to be marketed as a more futuristic television set. Predicta television sets were constructed with a variety of cabinet configurations, some detachable, but all separate from the tube itself and connected by wires. Initially introduced in 1958 for the Holiday Inn hotel chain and rolled out for general consumers shortly thereafter, the Predicta was discontinued in the early 1960s. The age of Sputnik, Space age Television, Late 1950s TV designs, Modern design, futuristic TV, Lost in Space, In 1959, Philco introduced three 17-inch tabletop Predictas, called the Siesta, Princess, and Debutante. The Siesta, with a clock timer, was the top model. The Princess was the same TV minus the clock. Meanwhile, it's very much a part of human nature to seek similarities among phenomena rather than focusing on differences, laying the groundwork for change. Sometimes, this inclination is justified, especially when attempting such comparisons seems unimaginable. Take, for instance, the question: What similarities exist between Opera and Jazz? Instead of assuming there are none, consider how George #Gershwin made an attempt to reconcile these two genres with his creation, "Porgy and Bess."
What makes "Porgy and Bess" somewhat similar to #jazz is its incorporation of jazz elements into the operatic form. Gershwin infused the score with blues, jazz, and spiritual influences, creating a uniquely American sound. The opera features syncopated rhythms, improvisational passages, and harmonic progressions reminiscent of jazz music. Additionally, the characters often sing in a conversational, idiomatic style that reflects the vernacular language of the time.
While "Porgy and Bess" is not a traditional jazz work, its fusion of operatic and jazz elements makes it a notable example of how these two genres can intersect and influence each other.

Regarding last night's #PresidentialDebate2024, I believe this is an ideal moment to share one of my favourite videos - #LaurieAnderson's 2010 "Another Day in America." Anderson, a pioneer in experimenting with technology, used a vocoder to make her spoken or sung words sound as if they are also being sung by an instrument, creating an eerie 'voice of authority'. The closing question in the clip, "How do we begin again?" resonates with prescience and foreboding, suggesting that the American Dream is swiftly fading for many. It's truly worth a listen. Anderson's #creative work, often described as #avantgarde, represents cerebral rock at its finest. A human kaleidoscope of thought-provoking ideas and concepts. The world desperately needs more artists like Anderson. My favourite quote from her is: Art is about paying attention. And we need to pay extra special attention to events in the months and years ahead.
