📢 Question for therapists: What are the most common experiences that your clients have in their search for a therapist (before finding you)? Do you hear them say the search was easy? Do they typically call multiple providers? Is it common to not even get return phone calls? Did they end up trying a sub-par solution because the attempt was too difficult, and they gave up the first time? Please share your stories. Of course, as a clinician, I know my experience, and that of my colleagues, but I think it's important for others to understand the gravity of this by hearing it straight from other therapists.

Today was definitely one of those days where you check your calendar, make a very obvious late attempt to paratroop into a zoom clinical consultation after a meeting runs long, accidentally say something curious, and get asked to comment on it in a larger discussion where we invite more therapists to weigh in. 😎 So, PSA: calling all therapists, especially those who work with first responders and/or veterans, have you ever heard someone from this population request a therapist that "is not going to cry or fall to pieces if I start talking about my trauma?" How do you navigate these requests without sounding like a robot? Are these the only two options? 😭 or 🤖? Would love to hear your thoughts

We forget to practice self-care sometimes too. 🤗 Sometimes we forget and sometimes we make other choices rather than practicing self-care. On a particularly hard day recently, I made the decision to throw a pity party for myself rather than meditate or utilize another self-care practice.  🤗 Therapists are human too and we don’t make “the right” choices every single time.  🤗 Therapists: How’s your self-care looking these days?
