I was delighted to recently join Cheddar News’ Morning Bell show, where I discussed the growing trend of younger generations pursuing skilled trades, or what I call “Skilled Collar” jobs.   This trend is exciting for numerous reasons. First, it addresses the prevalent worker shortage gaps across the nation. Second, it provides alternative career pathways for individuals beyond the conventional route of attending four-year colleges.   This interest from younger generations also helps directly tackle industry needs. For instance, at Universal Technical Institute, Inc. we take pride in our robust partnerships with over 13,000 employers between transportation, skilled trades and energy. All of our programs are aligned to a specific industry's requirements.   To catch the entire segment, watch here: https://bit.ly/3J8xYP2   #SkilledCollar #SkilledTrades #GenZ #Careers #Workforce

UTI/MMI graduate from 2007. Currently owning and running my own marina for 13 years and trying to find techs in northern Minnesota is so difficult. We’re offering $35 an hr for experienced techs and haven’t had any interest in two seasons… I hope the next generation has some gears heads out there somewhere.

Loved the segment. Excited to see the interest in the trades come back around like it was when I came up. We took a hit for a long time and had to dig out of a pretty poor PR slump perpetuated by stubborn counselors and an unfair stigma. Dirty hands sure do make clean money.
