The modern economic system is a market economy, which is a capitalist economy where people, not the government--NOT THE GOVERNMENT--own most businesses. There is perhaps no more important mission in the gas markets than to expose young people to the nature and importance of energy security, natural gas' critical role in carbon emissions reduction, support for America's Allies around the globe for energy access, use of a native US resource to support a manufacturing renaissance here in the US...the list goes on. As many students will start summer internships tomorrow, I want to share three tips for the first week to help ensure a successful summer. 1. Solidify goals & deliverables - clarify what success looks like for your role and what are the end of summer deliverables. 2. Develop communication and feedback plan - ask your manager how best to communicate updates and how often, align on timing of formal and informal feedback. 3. Meet the team & learn the organization - know who to go to for what, both on and outside of your team, understand firm culture norms and take time to understand how your role and team fit into the broader organization.
