ESMAP released a new report - 'Geothermal Energy : Unveiling the Socioeconomic Benefits'. This report highlights the socioeconomic contributions of the geothermal sector, including the potential opportunities and benefits that can be enhanced at national and local levels throughout geothermal projects’ development and operation. Key lessons and best practices are outlined in the text and also showcased across 27 case studies. Full report attached.

Geothermal energy is bringing the heat to the low-carbon energy mix. As the U.S. looks to reduce its carbon footprint, the viability of geothermal energy appears to be attracting attention from members of Congress who have sought to ease certain restrictions on geothermal development under the National Environmental Policy Act, or NEPA.
