DEI Didn’t Make Me—I Was Already Excellent!!
So much is being said about DEI today, but the truth is, DEI didn’t create my excellence. That was instilled in me by my grandfather, who always taught us that we had to be two or three steps ahead. It was never about meeting the standard—it was about setting it.
Look at today’s reports on where Latinos stand. The Latino Donor Collaborative highlights that Latinos in the U.S. represent the fifth largest economy in the world and we are a driving force in business growth, and education.
Excellence isn’t new to us—it’s how we’ve always moved.
DEI may have helped open clearer paths to success, but those of us in our roles today earned our place through merit, discipline, and vision.
So when people talk about merit-based hiring—look at us. I see us. I see you. And we should all be seen.
The days of waiting for a seat at the table are over. We own the table. It’s time we act like it—not because something external validated us, but because we’ve always been here, leading with excellence.
DEI may be fading from corporate buzzwords, but our commitment to excellence? That will never fade.
