At KOCKUMS MASKIN, and across the BIRN Group, we are working to address one of the industry's biggest challenges — attracting qualified talent. In Sweden, like in Denmark, we are seeing a generational shift in the workforce, making it crucial to raise awareness about the opportunities in our sector 🛠 Through our apprenticeship program, we aim to give young talents the skills and confidence they need to succeed. As I shared in this article from Gjuteriet, it's not just about filling positions—it’s about creating a workplace where employees feel proud and motivated to grow 📚🔧 Curious about how we do this at KOCKUMS MASKIN? If still open James Mears going for £125.54. Great that you are supporting apprenticeships into your firm - all my own work honest! James Mears, who started his career in logistics at Davies Turner in September 2001, mentioned that his first weekly pay was £1**..**, with the exact amount partially obscured. This suggests that the weekly pay for an entry-level position at Davies Turner in 2001 was likely around £100-£199 per week. It's important to note that apprentice wages have changed significantly since 2001. Currently, the National Minimum Wage rate for an apprentice is £6.40 per hour. This rate applies to apprentices aged 16 to 18 and those aged 19 or over in their first year. For a typical 40-hour work week, this would amount to £256 per week in 2024. Given the significant changes in minimum wage laws and economic conditions over the past two decades, the apprentice pay at Davies Turner in 2001 was likely lower than current rates.
Davies Turner (MIFT) September 2001 my career started in logistics. In my opinion DT are logistics leaders in apprenticeships. I will send you a case of Italian wine if you can guess how much my first WEEKLY pay was ? £1**..** P.S .. We have a daily groupage service to/from Italy. ADR - Temp control - Carnet - personal effects - food stuffs - barcode, regime 42 - overhead loading/unloading - express groupage - Classic cars - MILAN - VERONA - ROME

𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗿𝘀 💪 Consultants at TAG looking to advance their careers can take the next step as team managers, starting with an apprenticeship, a one-year period in which they can try out the responsibilities of a team manager on the job. What are those responsibilities? Our team managers support consultants on their projects, but also help TAG grow as whole by strengthening the recruitment team and spotting sales opportunities. Consultant Lies van den Broeck started the apprenticeship this year: “I love people management but was unsure whether other responsibilities would appeal to me. The great thing about the apprenticeship is that it gradually introduces you to the different facets of the role and that you can assess for yourself after a year whether you want to take it up.” Throughout the apprenticeship, she is coached by team managers such as Martin Camerman: “I did the apprenticeship last year, so I fully understand the questions or doubts you can have. I’m glad I can share my experience and help others grow into the role.” By the end of this year, apprentices like Lies will be fully prepared to support their colleagues as team managers. 🤝 #TAG #Consultancy #ProjectManager #BusinessStrategy #TeamManager #Training #Recruitment #Sales

Care to Share?(CTS) "Sliding Doors" with Oscar winner Gwenyth Paltrow is one of my all-time favorite movies. Inspiring haircut and a fresh story line: What would happen if one small thing changed? Would it trigger a domino effect and have massive consequences? aka the Butterfly effect I thought about this recently when I read about how my Texas McCombs School of Business MBA classmate, Allison got her first break at Coca-Cola (see below). She's now retiring from a decorated career at "Big Red" (IBM joke). Kudos Allison Higbie! (Hopefully now that you’re retired we can catch up soon for a coffee, or Minute Maid since we live relatively close. ) ———- For my network, as you look back at your career, do you ever wonder where you'd be if one small thing changed? I'll go first: after my first year at Business school, I was invited by McKinsey Dallas to apply for consideration after I graduated. I had my application filled out, with a stamp on it, ready to put in the mail. But on deadline day, I didn't mail it.... What if I had? Back story: The folks that did the McK Dallas office info session were like the beautiful people/lawyers on “Suits”. As a broke first year grad student - I couldn’t relate. I knew nothing about consulting companies but knew, I didn’t want to have a career that wouldn't let me have a life.(And ended up at in a job that didn’t let me have a life. As the saying goes: best way to make God laugh… make a plan.) Thinking back, the structure, training, and learning from a consulting firm would have been incredible. ——— While I firmly believe that everything happens for a reason. (In this case I met Sunil Patel at the McK Dallas info session and introduced him to my best friend and later his wife.) And I believe there's a tremendous amount of growth from failure. However long that takes to realize… It's hard not to think back and imagine what if... Care to share your what if career moment? (or favorite movie?) (Feedback also appreciated as I get my LinkedIn messaging sea legs. Was this post too long?)
In the spring of 1999 I received the disappointing news that I was not selected for an internship in Coca-Cola’s Houston office — then known as The Minute Maid Company. My MBA classmate Peter Thornfield got the internship offer, and the recruiting team of Bobby Patton and Monica Quintero Bond told me I was an alternate. Instead -- I received an offer to intern for PepsiCo in their Frito-Lay office in Plano, where — yep! - Pete had also applied. Through my incredibly good fortune or perhaps coercion, Pete turned down Minute Maid and went with Frito, opening the opportunity for me… and I am FOREVER grateful!! From that internship at Minute Maid, I have been blessed with just shy of 25 years at Coke. The secret to this longevity has been amazing colleagues who quickly became friends, bosses who trusted me with opportunities I wasn’t ready for, direct reports who demonstrated amazing patience as I was learning to be a boss, and a heavy dose of incredible luck — as perfectly demonstrated above with my internship. My children and husband have never known an Allison without Coca-Cola. And frankly, it’s an incredibly foreign idea to me as well. But that time has come and I am officially a Coca-Cola alum now. During my internship in the summer of 1999 I was allowed to sit in the chair of the heralded former Coke President Robert Woodruff during a visit to Atlanta. On my December 2024 visit to the Atlanta HQ, this was no longer allowed, and I had to settle for a picture outside the glass -- looking in. Maybe it's symbolic of this new phase outside of Coca-Cola, but I promise to keep smiling and making silly jokes… and Coca-Cola red will always be my favorite color. I’m walking away proud of the business results, but more proud of the friendships built around the globe. Happy New Year!

🚀 On November 20, 2024, the IHK action day “One Day as an Apprentice” at Panasonic Industry in Pfaffenhofen offered pupils a hands-on experience in warehouse logistics. Organized by Thomas Baumgart and Sarah Hagn, the event allowed pupils to explore the dynamic role of a warehouse logistics specialist, guided by the experienced trainer Thomas Baumgart and the current apprentice Eray Sari. 📦 After a short round of introductions and safety instructions, the pupils engaged in activities from receiving goods to shipping, gaining insights into the logistics industry. This initiative by the Chamber of Industry and Commerce for Munich and Upper Bavaria sparks curiosity in young talents. 💡 For the pupils, this day was a valuable experience that not only gave them an insight into the apprenticeship profession of warehouse logistics specialist, but also aroused their curiosity and enthusiasm for the logistics industry. Panasonic Industry is pleased to have been part of this initiative and hopes that we can inspire more young talents to enter the exciting world of warehouse logistics in the future. 👉 Learn more about our Panasonic Industry apprenticeship programs here: https://lnkd.in/gmy6Z3Rf #PanasonicIndustry #Logistics #CareerDevelopment #IHKActionDay #FutureTalent

Fifteen years ago, I completed my four-year apprenticeship at BRUSA Elektronik. During this time, I not only learned the fundamentals of electronics but also developed a valuable approach to resource management. It is important to me to use materials and energy sparingly, as I believe this is both economically and environmentally sound. I particularly enjoy repairing electronic components, also in my leisure time. Often, the defective parts are just a few cents to replace. These small repairs are not only cost-effective but also contribute to extending the lifespan of devices and reducing waste. The image shown depicts such a case: it is the repair of an old backfeedconverter from the company EA Elektro-Automatik. A Y-capacitor was defective. After replacing it, the unit is now functioning perfectly again. With this device, I already tested BRUSA components during my apprenticeship. Efficient resource management is very important to me and also plays a central role in my current position at BRUSA Technology. Here, I apply the principles I learned during my apprenticeship on a daily basis. This approach allows us to find sustainable solutions and continuously improve the efficiency of our processes and products.
