After the decision from the European Commission to postpone the Water Resilience Initiative, a joint letter co-signed by - Pernille Weiss, Member of the European Parliament and Chair of the MEP Water Group, - Pietro Francesco De Lotto from the European Economic and Social Committee and - André Viola, Member of Le Comité européen des régions was sent to Executive Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič, calling the Commission for: “an ambitious EU Blue Deal, establishing water as a top priority for the European Union” and to make water a strategic priority in its coming term (2024-2029). They are also encouraging the Commission to publish the Water Resilience Initiative without delay.  The letter is available here: https://lnkd.in/e-V8HhYe This will certainly be a topic during the upcoming Water Conference: Speeding up to a water resilient Europe. Towards an EU water resilience agenda on March 12th in Leuven. This document and proposal is directly link with I-ReWater project (Interreg Sudoe Programme), which include as one of the key objectives: develop a Strategy to Use Reclaimed Water in SUDOE area.

🚰At the recent Water Loss conference in the Basque city of San Sebastian, Organised by IWA Water Loss Specialist Group (#WLSG), the focus was on the connection between water leakage, non-revenue water, efficiency and its impact on our #climate. 💧The Leakage Emissions Initiative was established by IWA WLSG to "quantify the impact of unmanaged leakages...and linking the leakages with carbon emissions". We presented a new study called: "Greenhouse Gas Emissions Provide a Key Indicator for Optimising Water Delivery: A Case Study from Southern Ethiopia”. 📰This study can be found in our new exciting publication: Strengthening Capacities of Selected Town Water Utilities in Ethiopia 2023-2025; read it below!  

APUA signs agreement with Seven Seas Water Group to expand water production. 💧 The Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA) and Seven Seas Water Group (SSWG) have announced a 12-year Build-Own-Operate-Transfer agreement. 💧 SSWG will build two new seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) plants, adding three million imperial gallons of daily drinking water capacity for Antigua. 💧 These plants will be near existing facilities at Ffryes Beach and Ivan Rodrigues, with Ffryes Beach expected to start production within seven months. 💧 Minister Melford Nicholas sees this as vital for meeting demand from tourism and economic growth, praising the partnership with SSWG. 💧 APUA's General Manager, John Bradshaw, emphasizes the need to address rising water demand due to climate change. 💧 CEO Henry Charrabé is excited about expanding water treatment plants with APUA to enhance local infrastructure and provide reliable Water-as-a-Service® in Antigua. 📄For more exclusive news in water industry follow the link 👇 https://lnkd.in/dAKqKc5P #Aqua_energy_expo_magazine
