What a weekend we had at the Major League Fishing REDCREST Outdoor Sports Expo in Birmingham, AL a few weeks ago! Our Minn Kota and Humminbird Pros rocked Lay Lake with their skills and passion for the sport. Not only that, but the MLF Fisheries Management Division (Steven Bardin), MLF staff, Bass Pro Tour anglers Gary Klein and Grae Buck, and Alabama Power staff kicked off Renew our Rivers’ Logan Martin weeklong cleanup, offloading a barge full of trash collected Saturday morning (March 16th). The event, in conjunction with the #CleanEarthChallenge was created to celebrate Renew Our Rivers and the MLF REDCREST Championship. It was followed up with by #MinnKotaMotors Habitat Restoration Project Supported by the KVD Foundation and MossBack Fish Habitat to cap off the weekend. The trash collected helped get us so much closer to our goal of 4 Million pieces of trash collected by Earth Day. Great job, team! Thanks to everyone who made this event unforgettable. Stay tuned for more epic adventures from Johnson Outdoors! #JOatMLF2024 #MajorLeagueFishing #JohnsonOutdoors #JohnsonOutdoorsFamily #Humminbird #Minnkota #Fishing #FishingLife #FishingCommunity #OutdoorLife #Sustainability #Conservation #TrustedForAdventure #ComeCleanForEarth #PlacesWeLoveSpacesWeProtect

Horses and bison play a crucial role in clearing scrubland and vegetation, acting as "sapper horses" that create firebreaks, reducing the risk of fires spreading. The initiative aims to utilize the animals' natural grazing behavior to prevent wildfires. The collaborative effort between humans and animals signifies a shift towards sustainable fire prevention strategies, preserving the natural heritage of the Iberian Peninsula while safeguarding against devastating wildfires. #fireprevention #wildfires #naturalheritage https://lnkd.in/dRXWd2rE

🚀 Igniting the Next Generation to Redefine Financial Freedom on Their Own Terms 🔹Creator of Nature Listening Points🔹 Sociologist 🔹 Speaker 🔹 Financial Coach 🔹 Author 🔹 Climate Steward
This week, my thoughts have been with Texas as wildfires ravage the state, consuming over 1 million acres and claiming the lives of at least 10,000 cattle and the immeasurable loss of wildlife. Entire families and communities are facing the heartbreaking loss of their homes and ways of life. In 2021, I traversed the Texas panhandle in my RV, camping at Caprock Canyons State Park, the home of the Texas bison herd. Once, up to 60 million bison roamed North America, but in the 1870s, overhunting had reduced their numbers to less than 1,000. During this "Great Slaughter," visionaries like Mary Ann Goodnight stepped forward. Their efforts to conserve the bison through the late 19th century laid the groundwork for the recovery of bison populations across North America, showcasing the power of determined conservation efforts. The story of the bison's recovery is a testament to what we can achieve with focused action and a commitment to conservation. In the face of current challenges like the Texas wildfires, it begs the question: How can we apply this same dedication to care for our planet today? How do we move towards sustainable practices that can rejuvenate and preserve our environment? Mary Ann Goodnight's legacy is a call to action. Each environmental challenge, each wildfire, presents us with a choice: Do we revert to practices that endanger our planet, or do we seize the opportunity to rethink and reshape our relationship with the land? What steps will you take to contribute to a sustainable and resilient future? >> If you'd like to learn how you can take action, I invite you to PlanetSmart Finance Fest. Brilliant example of how corporates can benefit from nature, and nature can benefit from corporates!!! #corporate #business #nature #climate #wellbeing
You may have seen our recent updates from the Fylde Coast, where we spent a wonderful few days carrying out our annual Christmas tree planting event this month 🌲🌊 Around 80% of the Fylde sand dunes have been lost over the last 150 years due to urban expansion, and rebuilding the dunes in this way helps restore and strengthen our coastal defences, protecting against the rising tides, as well as creating a wonderful habitat for wildlife. We were joined by some of our partners Victrex , Environment Agency and Eric Wright Group on the beach and got to hear what they thought of the day itself. Thanks for your help team!

The Chesapeake Bay watershed gained 4,310 acres of newly created or restored wetlands between 2014 and 2022, according to experts from the Chesapeake Bay Program. The Wetland Outcome in the Chesapeake Bay Watershed Agreement calls for the function of 150,000 degraded wetlands to be enhanced by 2025. The latest data shows that 60,666 acres of wetlands have been enhanced between 2014 and 2022, meeting 40.4% of this goal. Wetlands provide critical habitat for fish, birds, mammals and invertebrates, while supporting recreational fishing and hunting. Wetlands also trap polluted runoff and slow the flow of nitrogen, phosphorus and sediment, as well as toxic contaminants into rivers, streams and the Chesapeake Bay. #ChesapeakeBay #Wetlands #CleanWater

I've recently started receiving more impromptu recommendations and support. They make me increasingly emotional. I'm not good at receiving positive feedback. My first reaction is to assume there's been some sort of mistake. I prefer criticism, it feels I can do something tangible with it. But I notice that I search for validation, sub-consciously - and occasionally bubbling up to the surface. And need to acknowledge that to be able to take another step forward: one of the main things I've learnt about becoming a social entrepreneur is that it feels like a very public very personal journey into self-development. I'm learning to get better at hearing and acknowledging support. And recognising that I need it. Earlier this year I started The Bio-Leadership Project and yesterday I heard an incredible Pecha Kucha from Sulaiman R. Khan – سلیمان راشد خان. One strand of this was about interdependence. We are all interdependent - and this is a strength not a weakness. I'm so used to the opposite narrative: that independence is good, and relying on others is bad. That you can give support, but you shouldn't have to need it from others. Learning to unlearn... Anyway, a very rambling way of saying a huge thank you to Rob Fenton - he was open to exploring with me what a business offer through Wild Mosaic might look like. Maybe there should be an London Business School ex-staff entrepreneurs group - it feels like there are quite a few of us! #rewilding #socialenterprise #socialentrepreneur
A bit over a year ago, we had our first Wild Mosaic customer. Last month I was able to do something I've been looking forward to doing for ages. Our growing mosaic of subscribers funds restoration in this beautiful part of Wales. So far we've been able to contribute to: - Fencing to keep sheep out - Ecological surveys - No fence collars for the Belted Galloway so they can be more easily managed on the land - Trees for hedgerows - Wildfowers seeds and yellow rattle hay Later this summer we're hoping that we'll be able to start to contribute towards wetland creation. This is all done in partnership with THE RADNORSHIRE WILDLIFE TRUST LIMITED who own and manage the land. Come and join us and see what wildflowers might start to emerge this spring 🌼 www.wildmosaic.eco [ www.wildmosaic.eco ] #rewilding #socialenterprise

Wilder Woodlands 🌳🌲🌳 Avon Wildlife Trust will embark on an 18-month project focussing on a large woodland area in North Somerset, including Goblin Combe and surrounding land. The work, funded by the Natural England Species Recovery Programme Capital Grant Scheme, will improve habitat for Lesser and Greater horseshoe bats, Barbastelle bats and Dormice. The funding will allow us to protect these species and help them recover – through better-connected habitats with a broader range of native plants, offering improved foraging and nesting sites. The work will also enhance the landscape – making it more resilient to flooding, erosion and extreme weather. In addition, we will engage the local community, helping them understand our target species' role as critical components of a healthy and resilient ecosystem. There are unprecedented pressures in North Somerset, including development and damaging agricultural practices. With less habitat availability, a multi-species approach is needed to create better habitats and connect them to the broader area. AWT will work with neighbouring landowners to improve prospects for bats and dormice by turning inhospitable plantation woodland into a thriving, supportive habitat. #WilderWoodlands

No SEAWALLS, NO HOW, NO WHERE.
