Goodbye, Summer (or is it too soon?) As summer comes to a close, I’ve been reflecting on the past few (very hot) months. It’s been a chance to recharge, which I truly value. Here are a few things I’m taking away from this summer: ☮ Importance of Downtime: Taking a break helped me gain perspective and clarity. I’m reminded of how essential it is to step back and recharge - or just cool off! 🙏 Networking Opportunities: I had the chance to connect with some great people during summer events and am looking forward to even more this fall. Building these relationships is something that energizes me and reminds me why I love what I do. 🎯 Setting New Goals: With the new season approaching, it’s time to reassess my goals and focus on what I want to achieve in the coming months. Hello Summer! While I'm excited for the summer and all the fun we've already had and will be having, I'm also present to the potential overwhelm that it can cause our family and potentially your's. Summertime brings its own unique challenges which have been coming up over and over again with my clients. Here are a few tips based on some recent client conversations. - Set Work Hours: Clearly define your work times and communicate them to your family. - Create a Schedule: Plan the week with your kids, including camp times and family activities. - Designate Quiet Zones: Have specific areas for work where you won't be disturbed. - Prioritize Self-Care: Take time for yourself, even if it’s just a quick break. - Set Realistic Goals: Focus on what truly matters and accept that not everything will be perfect this summer. Summertime has always been interesting to me in terms of work and creativity. I find that the breaks that come from the different cadence of our work—due to vacations (us or others), holiday weekends, kids at home (or at camp), travels, and general changes in 'vibes' among people—compound over time. It's not just my breaks but those of the people I work with and collaborate with. It's at this time that I most clearly witness the benefits of a culture of rest, refreshment, and the new perspectives that come from travel or time away from the computer for me and my team and collaborators. My question -- and I'd love your thoughts -- is that (if you see something similar or agree, or even disagree): is this effect more pronounced because of its seasonality (i.e., summer only), or is it something we can design into the rest of the year? I always look forward to summer for a variety of reasons. Living just a few meters from the sea allows me the luxury of enjoying beach with my family after work, a simple pleasure that highlights summer for me. 🏖 🏖 However, there's something else rewarding about the summer, but looking from a business aspect this time. It often means fewer meetings in my calendar, providing me with different opportunities. 🗓 ⏰ Lot of people find hard to motivate themselves during these hot days, however I never had a problem with it, it was always the other way around. 🤔 👉 During this period, I usually engage more heavily in tracking market trends and developing ideas that have otherwise been on hold. Summer somehow turns out to be the most creative and productive time of the year for me, and it's been like that for years. While I am looking forward to a vacation coming in two weeks, I know I'll miss this peak productivity in the months to follow. I always do. 📈 How does summer impact your business and working habbits?
