ARE YOU CONSIDERING APPLYING FOR AN INTERNSHIP?🌠 Check out what Björn has to say: 👋 Hi, I’m Björn! I joined MMC as a consultant six months ago, and before that, I spent two months as an Intern. I have a BSc in Digital Management and a MSc in Finance & Strategic Management from Copenhagen Business School. I also did an exchange semester in the MBA program at Duke University, Fuqua School of Business. My first encounter with MMC was in my former student job at Maersk Growth, where some of my colleagues were former MMC'ers. They were all great people with career paths that resonated with my interests but also spoke very positively about the skillset you build as a Consultant and the fun company culture at MMC. After having completed my internship at MMC, I could only agree 🤝🌏 Preparing for case interviews can be very time-consuming, but I would definitely recommend doing your homework as it will make you more calm at the interview (which is not at all as scary as it may sound). Personally, I read a book called Case In Point, practiced mock-case interviews with colleagues and friends, and read up on Maersk’s strategy. My best advice for anyone contemplating applying for an Internship in MMC is to practice case interviews – and don’t be afraid to ask for help from people in your network. It might feel awkward at first, but almost everyone who has worked in consulting has been through the same process." Did Björn's words awaken your curiosity? After recently finishing my placement at THG I have had time to reflect on my sandwich year👀Throughout the year I had multiple people asking me what my top tips would be going into a placement, so here goes! 5 tips to enhance your internship!✨🤍📝📎⭐️ 1. Be approachable — this is my biggest tip to anyone going into their placement year, being approachable can encourage multiple opportunities and allow you to communicate and build relationships with people in your workplace, building these connections can have a HUGE impact on your year ahead, it’s well worth it!🫶🏼 2. Proactivity — the foundation of your sandwich year. Being proactive suggests to your colleagues that you’re willing to learn and are passionate about what you’re doing! I know sometimes you may not want to say ‘yes’ to everything but trying your best to come to a compromise or pushing yourself can totally pay off! 3. Networking — this has to be one of the most rewarding aspects of my internship and something I would strongly encourage anyone to take part in! It comes with so many different benefits and allows you to explore and develop yourself within the corporate world! During my time at THG networking was a huge focus of mine and something I will take into 3rd year for sure! 4. Show Professionalism — be punctual, dress within the dress code and take notes!📝When heading into your internship I completely understand that feeling of worry that people will think of you as ‘just an intern’ well prove them WRONG! Setting your own standards and being professional can make a huge impact on how you’re treated within the workplace, show off and make yourself stand out! 5. Always ask for feedback — this is critical during your placement year, feedback can allow you to see where you can improve and show your willingness to learn and develop! 💭Also don’t be afraid to ask your managers or peers, they will always be happy to offer feedback and trust me don’t be disheartened if you think they’ve been a little tough, take time to reflect on it and allow yourself to improve next time!💡 #intern #internship #thgintern #placement #unistudent #placementstudent #sandwichyear #manchester

CEO at Skilio - Helping startups & SMEs build an intern army to optimise cost & expand their business
Not all internships are created equal. This was what interns were doing in Laos during my recent trip there. They were most likely hospitality students doing their internship in the hotel. My guess is that this is very different to the internship experience that hospitality students in Singapore receive. That’s not to say that the task that the students are doing in the picture has no educational value behind it. As with all internships, interns experience both the exciting and mundane aspects of the role. In my opinion, what’s more important is: 1️⃣ The intern’s mindset to learn from every type of tasks given and not just resign because the tasks given to them was not exciting or challenging. 2️⃣ The supervisor’s willingness to coach so that students understand the purpose behind certain tasks and not just take advantage of an intern to delegate mundane tasks to them. As with any relationships, it takes two hands to clap. If you are an intern, look for supervisor that are willing to coach. If you are a supervisor, look for interns who are hungry to learn and give them an opportunity.
