I am always honored when asked to participate and or speak in DC. I am very patriotic and love been a citizen of the United States and take my citizenship as a responsibility and as a privilege. I always feel unworthy and a little bit of the imposter syndrome. I just keep saying to myself, I may not be the best person but I keep showing up and thats galf the battle. I show up so my ethnic community has visibility, has a voice and has some advocacy in DC. I invite Pacific Islanders to join me in DC, we need more people involved. May 13 I will be on a panel that will address that the Biden-Harris Administration is redoubling its efforts to support Black, Latino, Asian American, Pacific Islander, Native Hawaiian, Native American, women, and veteran small business owners. From international matchmaking and business counseling, to direct funding for communities across the United States -- there is exciting work underway to help support new and existing AA & NH/PI entrepreneurs. For instance, in Fiscal Year 2023, the U.S. Small Business Administration delivered $52.4 billion in capital, disaster relief, and bonding to small businesses and disaster-impacted communities across America, with expanded funding for minority- and women-owned businesses. Over the past year, the U.S. Department of Commerce has expanded offices and staffing in the Indo-Pacific, which has already helped U.S. AA & NH/PI companies expand sales and build commercial partnerships. Three million businesses are owned by AA & NH/PIs employing five million people with annual revenues of more than $1 trillion. This panel will explore opportunities and challenges for AA & NH/PI small businesses, despite record levels of funding, support, and services. It was moved to Walter E. Washington Convention Center because VP Kamala Harris will be attending.

Community Economic Development Planner - Piedmont Triad Region at the North Carolina Department of Commerce
I'm looking forward to participating in this panel discussion in May! As a young professional who was empowered by experienced mentors who treated me as a valued peer, I am so appreciative of vision-focused leadership where the opportunity to learn from people with different perspectives, no matter what age or background, is embraced. Smart leaders live with a growth mindset and know there is always more to be learned.
✨ We're thrilled to announce our partnership with Surry County Economic Development Partnership and the Foothills Young Professionals for this fantastic event! Looking forward to collaborating and making it a success. RSVP HERE: https://lnkd.in/gCgf9i6k

Random Sunday Reflections: Per Spinas Ad Culmina During my A level years, an opportunity arose for students to engage in #civicaffairs in the City of Progress. Competing alongside peers, I ran for the position of Junior Councillor, an experience that shaped my understanding of service and governance. Being part of the council exposed me to the #responsibilities of #leadership and allowed me to cultivate essential skills such as communication and networking. One vivid memory that lingers from that time is the day a Mazda 626, a symbol of prestige then, arrived to pick me up for an event at the Town House. Walking to the car in full glare of my family , friends and secret admirers was electrifying. Dressed in my neat #Thornhill High School uniform, the moment was a poignant reminder of the motto on my blazer: "Per Spinas Ad Culmina" (Through thorns to the hilltop). It was in those moments that my passion for public policy and governance was ignited. Reflecting on those formative years, I am grateful for the lasting connections forged with many people and fellow junior councillors including individuals like Jethro Makaye Bota Tawanda Chinobva, and Jacob, who later assumed the role of Junior Mayor. The experience instilled in me a sense of duty, emphasizing the importance of service, effective communication, and the nuances of leadership. #RandomReflections #Service #LeadershipDevelopment #Networking #PublicPolicy #CityOfProgress
