"This gentleman is actually one of our Bend workers, he's down there right now. He works for the maintenance division. He works his tail off, the crew has been understaffed and we're working to get guys down there to help out. He has a high attention to detail, he is bold by telling me that he needs equipment, he backs up his coworker everyday, communicates, and does everything he can to make sure our customers are taken care of. Safety Spotlight 🦺📢🚨 "Karl does a great job with his team in regards to safety! He is very passionate about keeping them safe and injury free. As he describes, he is very direct and straight forward regarding safety. He makes sure that his team is comfortable and fully equipped to tackle the days tasks in a safe manner. Karl spends a lot of his day being out ahead of the drivers to G.O.A.L. the next upcoming job and communicate or make a plan to stay out of harm's way. Everyone here wants everyone to go home safe and healthy at the end of the day. What do you and your team do to promote safety and ensure a safe work environment? Our team does a great job of training and looking out for each other! Don’t look for short cuts, always do the right thing! Call each other out if needed. Assess a new environment before you drive into it. These environments include big job sites and small private deliveries. They both carry potential safety hazards and can pose big dangers. Finally, don't micromanage. The team knows what to look for and if someone is not sure, they know to ask before the incident occurs. What measures does your Crew/Plant take to improve safety? I have been around awhile. If I see something that isn't right, it gets fixed immediately. Appropriate signage, checklists, daily driver inspections all work together to help keep us safe. I am lucky to have a seasoned team that knows we help everyone, we are a team. If it looks like someone needs help, offer help. If someone asks for help, help out if you can. If you are not sure, contact someone. When it comes to new team members, ample time is spent to make sure they know what they are doing. They will spend time one-on-one until I think they are ready. Even when they are ready, I will still keep that person around other drivers on jobs. "There is a gentleman that works here that honestly keeps this place going. There's a whole lot of trucks and trailers here that need to be maintained and worked on 24/7 to keep us functional out there in the field and it's extremely important. Get on up here! Everybody this is Nic Wolf, this guy is a working machine. His hat's dirty, his vest's dirty, and by the end of the day his jeans are gonna be dirty. He's gonna have grease on his hands and he's gonna be happy to have helped out! This guy constantly works his tail off, if there's an emergency he takes care of it, if there's anything that I need or any other manager needs he's ready to help out at a moment's notice. We had a GRO University class recently and Nic took it upon himself to create a presentation about evaluating our trucks and trailers, their safety features, and what all foremen should be looking for on a daily basis. Putting that presentation together was above and beyond, it was bold, it was caring for you guys and our clients, and it was doing the right thing." -Colleague Nick M.
