Food is a pillar of the nation's sustainability and prosperity. It's essential, not just as a basic need, but also as a marker of a country's well-being and stability. In this regard, the vision of Indonesia Emas 2045 clarifies the importance of food security as one of the main focuses. Therefore, identifying opportunities and setting targets in the food sector are crucial steps that we must delve into and understand in order to realize that vision. 🌾🍲 #KadinIndonesia #IndonesiaEmas2045

One should ask why? All of them supporting the #EUDR (as we know it today), are actually impacted by its implementation. The burden is on smallholder farmers in Emerging Economies to address reporting requirements. Farmers will see markets closing: - they will have to pay for the reporting requirement (and most likely auditing), - - none of them will receive a price premium. - it will not save one tree Maybe the organizations and corporations listed on the post from Neill Barston could make a public commitment that they will absorbe the cost associated with the burden of reporting. The complexity of the market, together with the high volatility, is weakening the competitiveness of the EU food producers. Moreover, clarity is needed from EU regarding the EUDR program. A big chance for the market, to be translated in a step ahead for EU processors, if managed correctly

🥩 We recently took a deep dive on the scaling of cultivated meat production. 🐟 One of the companies we talked to for the deep dive was Umami Bioworks, which produces cultivated seafood without a catch. 💡It sees Singapore as a promising first go-to market, with Group Leader at Umami Bioworks, Lim Choon Kiat, commenting: “The process of getting regulatory approval is very lengthy and stringent, but I think being in Singapore gives us some advantage as the guidelines here are more well defined, when compared with the USA ...The Singapore government also has a more friendly attitude toward cultivated meat, or alternative proteins in general.” 📰 Dive deeper into the scaling of cultivated meat production by reading our full deep dive now! 🔗https://hubs.ly/Q02lyDZk0 #cultivatedmeat #alternativeproteins #seafood #novelfood #proteinproduction

Inaction is not an option: sustainable palm oil supply chains As the EU Deforestation-Free Regulation (#EUDR) imposes stricter requirements, consumer goods companies must ensure #palmoil is deforestation-free or face significant compliance risks and fines. Certification schemes like #RSPO, #ISPO and #MSPO support EUDR goals, but full compliance demands enhanced traceability and transparency across supply chains. Leading companies are setting an example: Unilever is streamlining its supply chain for better traceability, while Sainsbury's with the Rainforest Alliance supports sustainable practices for smallholders in Indonesia. These actions align with new due diligence frameworks and showcase proactive responses to regulation. "Back in the 1970s, Singapore was relatively self-sufficient, producing over 90% of its poultry and pork needs, along with significant portions of vegetables and fish. Local farms were the backbone of food production. Fast forward to today, Singapore imports more than 90% of its food from 183 countries. This transition has dramatically increased carbon emissions, as food is now transported over vast distances from countries like Brazil and Australia, with air-freighted goods having an especially high environmental cost." Olivia Jensen's eye-opening talk at LRF Institute for the Public Understanding of Risk's Carbon Crunch event shows how food choices can be changed and have been changed in #Singapore. With sustainability at the core, Puratos Grand-Place proudly became a sponsor of Cocoa Association of Asia. Gricha Safarian, Managing Director of Puratos Grand-Place Indochina, emphasized the true essence of sustainability in his opening remarks. "Sustainability," Gricha said, "is about growing your business without harming the environment or communities around you. True sustainability means paying for what we use.” For the first time, 16 farmers from eight countries - Malaysia, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Côte d'Ivoire, Uganda, Bolivia, and Vietnam - came together in the Farmer Network at the Cocoa Association of Asia (CAA). This initiative was created to give a voice to the people who are often at the heart of the cocoa industry but rarely heard. The farmers discussed six key topics, guided by Selene Scotton: Sustainable Farming Practices, Innovative Technologies and Methods, Climate Change Adaptation, Market Access and Trade, Community Development and Farmer Cooperation, and Regulatory & Compliance. Representing Vietnam were: Ms. Nguyen Hong Thuong, Director of Nhat Tam Cooperative from Dak Lak Province, and Mr. Dong Tien Hung, Director of A1 Cocoa Company from Binh Phuoc Province. Alongside the Puratos Grand-Place team, they actively contributed to the discussions, highlighting Vietnam’s practices in cocoa farming. As we look ahead, we anticipate positive changes within the cocoa industry. By continuing to collaborate, share knowledge, and embrace innovation, we can ensure that cocoa remains a thriving, sustainable industry. #Puratos #PGPI #CAA #FarmerForum #Fruit #Farmer #Forest
