Among our website performance, one particular KMI Column tends to garner the most click-throughs. Today, let's look back to that column by Austin Morris, KMI Co-Founder & Director of Engineering, Space Terms 2: LEO, MEO, GEO, and HEO. Space is big. As Douglas Adams put it so eloquently in The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, space is really, really big. So let’s not talk about all of space right now, let’s just talk about the orbit of the Earth, which is still big. Let’s break it down and try to understand the different sections of Earth orbit and how they all play into the way that a satellite orbits. Read it here: https://lnkd.in/gptK_hT4

Is space debris a natural consequence of space exploration or a result of negligence? 🌠 Space debris is a growing concern in our orbit, especially in LEO. As our space activities continue to expand, the growing congestion of satellites and debris raises critical questions. Is the proliferation of space debris an inevitable byproduct of space exploration, or is it the result of poor practices and oversight? Or… both? 🔍What do you think is the primary cause of space debris? Let's discuss! #CleanOrbitFoundation #SpaceSustainability #SpaceDebris #KesslerSyndrome #SpaceExploration

The space science enabled by #Teledyne’s visible and infrared focal plane arrays depends on successful launch and orbit insertion of the spacecraft. The orbit is one of the most important choices made by a science mission. There are several options for an orbit in space. Science satellite orbits fall into three categories: 1️⃣Earth orbits 2️⃣Sun-Earth Lagrange Point Orbits 3️⃣Interplanetary Orbits 📃Find out more and read our latest article about the many locations for space science missions👉 https://loom.ly/59CQqVs #Space #SatelliteOrbits #Satellites #EllipticalOrbits #EarthOrbits #InterplanetaryOrbits #JUICEmission #TeledyneSpace @Teledyne Scientific & Imaging @Teledyne Technologies Incorporated

Vacuum solutions for space – The future of space research The most critical considerations for space projects have been ensuring satellites or spacecraft were able to withstand the challenging phases of launch, orbit, and re-entry. The diverse spectrum of our vacuum technologies has been critical in allowing these tests to take place. But the future of space projects will ask a new set of questions. ✔️ Interplanetary or asteroid mining ✔️ Exoplanet research and the extraitalian life ✔️ Deep space exploration and the origins of our universe ✔️ Interplanetary colonization Learn more about how our technology is enabling the next phase of future space missions: https://hubs.la/Q02j-52C0 #Leybold #LeyboldSpaceVacuum #FutureOfSpaceResearch #NewSpaceMissions #FutureAreasOfSpaceResearch

🛰 Current estimates indicate that more than 1 million pieces of space debris larger than 1 cm are orbiting Earth. With projections of around 50.000 additional satellites set to be launched in the next decade, the likelihood of space debris damaging space infrastructure and posing a threat to astronomical research is increasing. The session "Uniting technical and political approaches towards a global sustainable use of outer space through Space Traffic Management" saw representatives of the #EU, #ESA, the #UnitedNations and the industry discuss approaches and international initiatives to address the increasing congestion of space. #EuropeanSpaceConf #STM

Aerojet Rocketdyne advances space maneuver with new propulsion tech, Los Angeles CA (SPX) Apr 16, 2024 From the early days of space exploration, objects in orbit have followed the predictable trajectories described by Johannes Kepler's laws. These paths, while historically reliable, no longer meet the strategic demands of today's complex and contested Space Area of Operations (AOR). The need for agility and unpredictability in satellite movements has become paramount as space becomes a more conte, : Los
