Kallure proudly supports the "100 Voices, 100 Words" campaign for World Afro Day® We want to give a big shout-out to the 100 incredible voices who are boldly speaking out against Afro-hair discrimination in the UK. What this campaign is doing is helping to drive meaningful change and create a future where everyone can embrace their natural beauty without fear of prejudice. On September 10th 2024, World Afro Day® Day published an Open Letter calling on the UK to become the first Western nation to introduce legislation that specifically protects against Afro-hair discrimination. They demand an update to the 2010 Equality Act to end this form of oppression. Research shows that 95% of people with Afro-hair want UK law updated to prohibit Afro-hair discrimination. This change is long overdue. At Kallure, we are committed to fostering inclusivity and equity, which is why we are happy to support this vital cause. Afro-hair discrimination is not just a cultural issue but a deeply rooted injustice that has impacted generations. Today marks the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. It's crucial to actively combat racism, discrimination, and xenophobia in Canada. Here's how we can contribute: • Educate Yourself: Learn about the history and ongoing issues of racism, discrimination, and xenophobia. Check out resources like the Eh Sayers podcast to understand how cognitive biases perpetuate systemic racism. • Speak Out: Stand against racism, discrimination, and xenophobia when you encounter it. Call out discriminatory behaviour and language, and show solidarity with those who are targeted. • Support Communities: Listen to and amplify the voices of Indigenous peoples, racialized, and religious minority communities. Support organizations and initiatives working towards racial equality. • Promote Anti-Racism: Encourage anti-racism and racial equality in all areas of life. Promote inclusive policies and initiatives in workplaces, schools, and communities. Together, we can create a world where diversity is celebrated, and everyone is treated with dignity and respect! #EliminateRacism #Equality #Inclusion #EndDiscrimination
