Day 2 of #IEBucharest2024 was packed with powerful discussions, workshops, and inspirational moments! From the #courage to work across differences in the opening panel to interactive crisis communications and strategic litigation on equal marriage, every session was a conversation starter. We also hosted a press conference, addressing key challenges facing the Romanian LGBTI movement today. Lunch gave us a moment to #connect, and the afternoon sessions kept the momentum going, covering everything from corporate partnerships to building trust and sustainability. We finished with a powerful inspirational space about #cancelculture. Check out some photos from yesterday! Photos by Larisa Balta

Don't cancel me 🙏🏽 I'm speaking at ILGA-Europe about the anxiety-inducing and reactive practice of cancel culture. 🙅🏽♀️⛔🤬 I'm taking inspiration from the incredible adrienne maree brown and Kai Cheng Thom on transformative justice, and sharing my own experiences navigating the thorny contradictions of a loving community that at the same time can be punishing. I'll be asking: - What does cancel culture actually do for our community? - Are there alternatives to calling out? - How do we stick to our values, yet still address conflict and harm? - How do we find paths beyond the impasse of cancel culture with accountability and care? Touching on the fast pace of activism and the reactivity of social media, this talk will be a much-needed pause to reflect on the health of our activist community, and ways of healing. What are your thoughts? Anxiety-inducing, no big deal or a necessary practice? 👉🏽 'We will not cancel us. We will care for us.' The recent initiative of a Member of Parliament of #Kazakhstan to designate as "extremist" and ban the LGBTI civil society organisation Feminita, violates Kazakhstan's human rights obligations and further affiliates it with #Russia.
Joint statement: Kazakhstan risks further affiliating with Russia after MP requested to ban a leading LGBTI human rights group as “extremist”. | ILGA-Europe
