April is a significant month as CAN Community Health comes together to recognize Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM). It’s a time to raise our voices, spread awareness and stand in solidarity against sexual violence. This year’s “Building Connected Communities” campaign launched by the National Sexual Violence Resource Center, highlights the crucial role of inclusive, equitable and connected communities in the fight against abuse, assault and harassment. In our journey towards building a more compassionate world for all, it’s vital to educate ourselves, advocate for others and actively challenge harmful attitudes and behaviors that may contribute negatively to the health and well-being of survivors. You never know who may find the courage to get help or feel less alone through your show of support 🧡 Some facts: 📞The police receive a domestic abuse-related call every 30 seconds. 🚸1 in 5 children in the UK have lived with an adult perpetrating domestic abuse. ⚠️41% of UK girls aged 14 to 17 in an intimate relationship experienced some form of sexual violence from their partner. 🗣️1 in 4 women and 1 in 7 men experience domestic abuse at some point in their life. #domesticabuseawarenessmonth #domesticviolence
