Expert in Sustainable / Regenerative Ag & Meat Supply Chains | Driving Growth Through Innovation and Partnerships | Strategic Business Leader
Empowering Change Through Leadership: Reflecting on a Journey of Growth and Impact I'm thrilled to share that I've recently completed a leadership program through the National Institute for Animal Agriculture (NIAA) that has not only enriched my skills but also ignited a passion for driving positive change within the realm of animal agriculture. The most transformative part of this experience was the opportunity to work on a team capstone project focused on the precompetitive environment of sustainability data from an animal agriculture perspective. Our project was more than just an academic exercise – it was a chance to explore the intersection of sustainability, innovation, and industry collaboration. We delved into the complexities of gathering, analyzing, and sharing sustainability data within the animal agriculture sector, recognizing its pivotal role in driving informed decision-making, fostering transparency, and advancing sustainable practices with the overarching goal to gain consumer trust. Through extensive research, stakeholder engagement, and strategic planning, our team developed a comprehensive framework that not only addressed current challenges but also laid the groundwork for future collaboration and impact. We navigated the nuances of precompetitive collaboration, emphasizing the importance of shared goals, mutual trust, and data integrity in driving meaningful change across the industry. As we presented our findings and recommendations to industry leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders, I was struck by the power of collective action and the potential for transformation within our sector. The conversations sparked by our capstone project underscored the importance of cross-sectoral collaboration, knowledge sharing, and continuous innovation in shaping a more sustainable future for animal agriculture. Completing this leadership program and delivering on our team's capstone project has been a profound journey of growth, learning, and impact. It's reinforced my commitment to driving positive change, championing sustainability, and empowering others to lead with purpose and passion. I'm excited to continue this journey, leveraging the insights, skills, and connections gained through this experience to make a tangible difference in the world of animal agriculture and beyond. Together, we can build a more sustainable, resilient, and inclusive future for all. #LeadershipJourney #Sustainability #AnimalAgriculture #Teamwork #ImpactDriven #NIAA #NationalInstituteforAnimalAgriculture #Data

I was excited to share learnings from BerrySmart Fields & Smart Orchards that can be applied to "Smart Yards" in hops. Strong grower interest on corralling tech/data and applying to the hops industry. Bringing together layers of data & applying them to variable rate applications of nutrients, chem, and water are fundamental starting points, alongside emerging weed zapping technologies. The more data can assist labor NOW, the better growers can push through headwinds. #empowergrowers
With the growing financial pressures on the hops industry, labor-assistive technology aligned with applied research is critical to enabling the next generation to saddle-up! A shout out to Alicia Adler w/ HOP RESEARCH COUNCIL for leading an immersive "Innovation in Technology" panel at the Annual American Hop Convention. Our Steve Mantle paneled alongside Ryan Gregory w/ Hopsteiner, Dr Lynn Sosnoskie / Cornell University, Dr Marcelo L Moretti / Oregon State University, & Dr Paco Gonzalez / US Department of Agriculture (USDA) Agricultural Research Service (ARS). Lots of discussion on baselining data, digital literacy, pairing agronomy expertise with tech, and focusing on actionable areas like weeding tech & variable rate applications of spray/dry chem where it's needed most. #empowergrowers Yakima Chief Hops PERRAULT FARMS, INC.
