They collaborated with Omar Shakir, MD to present their findings on over 700 successful retinal procedures. "Of the first 700 consecutive OBS cases, there were no incidences of emergency perioperative medical intervention and no patients required emergency medical care within 24 hours of surgery. There were no instances of postoperative endophthalmitis. Surgical times were comparable to those in the ASC/hospital setting.
