It's Hospice Care Week and did you know that as many as 90% of people who die in the UK would benefit from palliative care? Currently, one in four people in the UK die without the care and support they need. And many don’t die in the place they would wish to die. Since 1989 we have helped almost 30,000 local people with specialist care at home and at our hospice. Our care includes things you might not expect like coffee mornings and other social groups, emotional and practical support for carers and family members, wellbeing programmes and complementary therapies - even tai chi. And we can help from day one of diagnosis. #hospicecareweek #dyingmatters #palliativecare

In life's most delicate moments, recognizing when hospice care may be needed is crucial for peace and comfort. Here are key signs to consider: 1. Significant Health Decline: If your loved one experiences a marked decline in health, struggles with daily activities, or has repeated hospitalizations or ER visits, it may be time to consider hospice care. 2. Less Response to Treatment: If treatments are no longer effective or if the side effects outweigh the benefits, hospice care may be a more suitable approach. 3. Changes in Mental Awareness: Significant changes in cognitive abilities, such as confusion or decreased alertness, can be a sign that hospice care is needed. 4. Doctor’s Recommendation: Often, a physician's recommendation to consider hospice care can guide this decision, especially when life expectancy is thought to be six months or less. At Ozark Total Healthcare, we offer guidance and support through these challenging decisions. Reach out to us for compassionate care and information. https://lnkd.in/gSdwtwcj #HospiceCare #OzarkTotalHealthcare #EndOfLifeCare #PoplarBluffCommunity #CompassionateSupport

The distinction between hospice and palliative care is a vital one. Hospice care is reserved for end-of-life, marking a journey's final six months. In contrast, palliative care provides ongoing support for those with serious illnesses, focusing on symptom and psychosocial management in any setting they call home. Why is this distinction important? It guides families and patients in making informed decisions, ensuring care aligns with needs and wishes. 🤔 Are you a healthcare professional, caregiver, or someone navigating these choices for a loved one? How has understanding this difference impacted your approach to care? Let's start a conversation. Share your insights and experiences. Together, we can enlighten others on these essential care pathways.
