Field visits like these are where my passion for agribusiness and community development truly comes to life. Meeting smallholder farmers, hearing their success stories, and witnessing the positive changes in their lives inspire me to continue advocating for sustainable practices that empower communities. It's not just about cultivating crops—it's about cultivating hope, resilience, and a brighter future for all. Every success story fuels my commitment to driving impactful change in the agricultural sector. #Agribusiness #CommunityDevelopment #SustainableAgriculture

Encouraging herding communities to #diversify their #livelihoods beyond pastoralism can help reduce #competition over limited resources. Governments, working with development partners, should invest in #alternative income-generating activities like small-scale agriculture, businesses, and vocational training. Also, promoting sustainable resource management practices, such as water conservation and rangeland rehabilitation, can help alleviate resource scarcity and conflicts and strengthen #foodsecurity, #economic opportunity, and #socialcohesion. What strategies have you seen successfully foster livelihood diversification in pastoral communities? We are interested to learn from your experiences.

In service of prosperity for people and planet. Caring for all life. Doing my best to embody the highest values.
It's so easy to skim over these brief impact communications, so I invite you to reflect for a moment on this one... 37 people employed in a remote Kenyan town with few employment opportunities to work in greenhouse operation that provides trees for reforestation across the landscape... a fraction of the >400 fulltime jobs that have been created by the Kasigau Corridor REDD+ Project. How do you protect forests? By creating value for the people who choose to conserve them. REDD+ is the only proven, scalable mechanism that enables us to do this in every threatened forest on our dear planet Earth.
The Wildlife Works Kasigau Corridor REDD+ Project's Greenhouse Department has significantly boosted local employment and sustainable development. 🧑🌾 🇰🇪 Local involvement is on the rise in every way. The department now employs 39 staff members, 37 from the local community. Seedling suppliers have increased from 131 to 227, showcasing the community's active participation in the forest economy. And since 2022, 802 farmers have been trained at the demonstration site, with many then adopting sustainable agricultural practices. This progress highlights the project's dedication to creating sustainable livelihoods, reducing poverty, and fostering inclusive economic development. Curious to know more? We heard that Los Alamos became a Bee City, so we were wondering, what does that exactly means? 🐝 The title "Bee City" in the United States implies that the city has taken specific measures to protect and promote the health of bees and other pollinators. This title is granted by Bee City USA: a non-profit organization that works to encourage pollinator conservation in communities across the country. Being designated as a Bee City implies that the city has made concrete commitments, such as creating pollinator habitats, reducing the use of toxic pesticides, public education on the importance of pollinators, and adopting policies that favor their protection. In summary, a Bee City is committed to promoting and protecting the health of bees and other pollinators through concrete actions and public awareness of their importance to ecosystems and agriculture. Our ranch ecologist team Kala Eiring and Janét Moore were out at Durham Ranch in Wright, WY recently. They were working the Climate Smart program on one of the largest Buffalo ranches in North America at a whopping 55,000 acres! 🤯 The Climate Smart program ensures accessibility to all ranchers, regardless of background or scale of operation, through its open availability of grants, loans, and subsidies. Through collaborative partnerships with diverse stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and private sector organizations, the program extends its reach and impact, fostering equity in sustainable agriculture initiatives. With a focus on personalized technical assistance and educational resources, the program empowers ranchers to participate actively, promoting inclusivity and diversity in climate-smart practices. 🦬 #TankaFund #BuffaloConservation #SupportNativeRanchers #WildlifePreservation #ProtectTheBuffalo #SustainableRanching #NativeAmericanHeritage #EcoFriendlyFarming #BuffaloFencingProject #ConservationEfforts #WildlifeProtection #SupportIndigenousCommunities #BuffaloRestoration #DonateForACause #WildlifeSupport #CulturalPreservation #IndigenousLandManagement #HelpSaveTheBuffalo #BuffaloHeritage #SustainableAgriculture #LandsLivesEconomies #Buffalo #Bison #TheReturn #NativeAmerican #ClimateRestoration #CommunityEmpowerment #EnvironmentalSustainability #BuffaloRanching #TankaImpact

"Thrilled to share my recent volunteer journey with Farm Patch, where we bridged community needs and sustainable farming. Over the last few months, my incredible team and I dove deep into understanding the local Asian community's preferences, bringing fresh, tailored produce directly to their tables. We got our hands dirty in the garden, fine-tuned the store's appeal, and launched a feedback loop that echoes the community's voice. This experience was more than just volunteer work; it was a lesson in the power of community engagement, data-driven decision making, and sustainable practices. #VolunteerWork #CommunityEngagement #SustainableFarming #DataDrivenDecisions"
