The wrap reel for The Good Lab by Micro Galleries has just been released. This program was powerful because artists do something kinda cool: authentically collaborate with skill. Artist collaboration employs a unique methodology that integrates research, diverse practices and approaches, creation, tension, failure, reimaginings, and solutions to address complex issues. Repeat. According to the Brookings Institution, such collaborative community engagement is crucial for effective problem-solving and sustainable development. Through this collaborative process, artists are inspired to create innovative works that reflect and tackle these issues. Plenty of research shows it, our work does it. https://lnkd.in/gZUc-qu5 Embracing the potential for failure, The Good Lab encourages experimentation and iterative design, viewing setbacks as opportunities for learning and growth. This iterative process of trial and error ultimately leads to more robust and creative solutions, resulting in impactful art that resonates with both the local community and a global audience. https://lnkd.in/g2h-D3MK

This #WorldEnvironmentDay, in support of ART 2030 and the United Nations, we share moments from the first PCAI Tilos Artist Residency programme with artist-in-residence Hypercomf, in Tilos, the first zero-waste island. The film PCAI Artist Tilos Residency: Hypercomf, directed by Ilias Madouros, unfolds PCAI’s artist-in-residence programme on the island of Tilos. How can circular economy principles inspire creativity, collaboration and regenerative thinking in art? The docufilm aims to explore this question following Hypercomf’s multifaceted art practices in Tilos during their three-month residency on the island. Climate change is a threat to human well-being and the health of the environment. There is a rapidly closing window of opportunity to secure a liveable and sustainable future for all. In this direction stands the PCAI residency programme's scope, which is to delve into the principles of the circular economy and its interconnection with creativity, collaboration, and regenerative thinking in art, materials and design toward a more sustainable planet! Share the post and inspire others to take action for a healthy planet. #ArtforaHealthyPlanet #ArtforGlobalGoals #tilosresidency #hypercomf #pcai *PCAI Tilos Artist Residency programme was launched in 2022, as part of the Just Go Zero Tilos project powered by Polygreen eco, implemented in collaboration with the Municipality of Tilos. https://lnkd.in/dGK5t7ZD

There's a room in which arts funding dwells, and in that room is a table. Around that table, sit a group of regular faces, able to make their art through regular funding support. There are others in the room, who sometimes get to sit at the table. And there are the rest. Those who know there's a room, and know where the door is, but don't have a key to get in. Then there are those who can see the room, perhaps from a distance, but can't find the door. And then there are those who don't even know the room exists. While there is funding available through Creative Australia, etc., most people who make art in Australia have never had any support from any of the funding bodies. Sometimes it's because many people who make art don't know how to access that funding. Often it's simply because it's outside their skill set to write the right grant application.

Experience Designing ECLIPSE, Part 1 The Lumen Prize & Studios launches ECLIPSE, an immersive experience by NONOTAK, in just 3 weeks. But I first started watching NONOTAK's previously recorded installations 8 months ago. When tasked with experience designing a space in London with 1 existing and 2 new site-specific experiences of theirs, I started the process by doing what my classical music conducting background would call score study. Many may know that my background is in classical music conducting and, while I never held a NONOTAK score in my hands, I started aggressively listening and researching absolutely everything I could find about the artists. From their audio-visual performances to interviews to their actual installations, I overloaded my brain with their content. Then, I started to tease out concepts and quotes that caught my attention. “In art there is a lot of intellectualization with meaning but what interests us is that people can see and feel some things directly with no questioning.” - Takami Nakamoto “We want the viewer to use their sense more than their brain.” - Noemi Schipfer These powerful quotes have ended up becoming the transformational foundation that we're imparting on our audiences through this experience: the ability to perceive your environment differently, utilizing your instincts and natural tendencies as opposed to intellectual processing. By the end of the ECLIPSE experience, we want audiences to see the world in a new way that is not colored by their own conceptions. More in part 2.. http://eclipse.show

Slow Art Day 2024 takes place tomorrow. How are you taking part this year? Please share how you're getting involved in the comments. Slow Art Day is a global annual event encouraging us to look at and discuss art slowly. This year it takes place on Saturday 13 April. The idea is simple: look at a few works of art for 5-10 minutes each. 🐌 You can do this on your own, with a group of friends or as part of an event at a museum. 🐌 Or participate online in a guided session or opt for a recorded video (see YouTube for lots of slow art inspiration). 🐌 You can choose which artworks to look at or let yourself be guided by what the museum has chosen. 🐌 Some venues select five pieces of art, others focus on just one or two, and others offer yet more options. If you're participating, tell us in the comments 👇 what you plan to do tomorrow! Or maybe you're a host? Share your Slow Art Day event below 👇 Use the comments here to spread the word about Slow Art Day and get involved. I'll also put some handy links for more info in the comments. cc: phyl terry #slowartday2024 #slowart #slowlooking
