I'm a global decarbonization technology leader at GE Vernova delivering quantitative analyses that drive business strategy.
The 2024 Asia Pacific #Hydrogen Summit wrapped up last Friday. It was an amazing two days. I represented GE Vernova on two panels; one on #H2 mega projects, and one on the production of H2 from #renewables. The video below includes my reflections after the first day of the event. Overall, my reflections from my trip to Australia and this event are: 1) Australia and its international partners are committed to supporting the growth of renewable-based H2 globally. 2) There is a clear understanding that (developing a new industry) is hard and that it will take time. These are key ... no one is expecting that the development of a low-carbon H2 supply chain will happen overnight or that it will be easy. But it is clear that both public and private institutions are focusing on H2 as one of the paths needed for the future of energy. #APACHydrogen2024 #FutureofEnergy #decarbonization #renewables #gasturbines #windpower #Australia

Shaping Energy Industry I Energy Market l Market Design I Energy Transition I Business Development I Challenge Status quo
Last week at the World Hydrogen Summit in Rotterdam, I had the privilege to engage in enlightening discussions about market dynamics, technological advancements, and our collective progress towards energy transition goals. 🌍 Regional Presence: The summit showcased an impressive array of countries and regional delegations, all demonstrating the benefits of hosting green molecule production due to their access to renewable energy, infrastructure, or their role as importing hubs. 🔧 Technological Insights: I explored developments in turbo-machinery and power generation equipments with industry leaders such as Jenbacher, Baker Hughes, Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd., and Siemens Energy. 📌 Key Highlights: - Kawasaki's advancements in hydrogen DLE development with their 100% H2 DLE combustor which can burn from 50 up to 100% hydrogen—a significant leap forward in hydrogen technology for gas turbines on top of the recent announcements about ammonia use. - Siemens' new STC-SVM compressor consolidating the best of both STC and DATUM platforms for hydrogen compression transmission network applications (Special thanks to Markus Kurz and Pieter De Bisschop for the coffee and insightful discussions) - Jenbacher developments in the hydrogen space for their engine offering (Thanks Marco Graaf) 🌐 Market Studies / Initiatives: I delved into various initiatives and studies, notably those from the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft Institute, which focused on the production of ammonia overseas and its potential import into Europe. These discussions shed light on the evolving hydrogen/ammonia markets, emphasizing the importance and the competitive edge of imports for the European market. Another initiative was the Mission Possible Partnership, which aims to decarbonize hard-to-abate sectors through the creation of green corridors. 🔄 Industry Sentiment: From the perspective of electrolyzer's OEMs, the sentiment remains mixed. Despite a promising sales pipeline, administrative and financial challenges persist among clients. While we can look at a half-full or half-empty glass, there is an ongoing reality check as clients come to terms with the true costs of green molecule production. I wished I would have had the time for more given the attendance. Following the EU hydrogen week in Brussels last November, the World Hydrogen Summit & Exhibition in Rotterdam reaffirmed that green molecules continue to gain momentum. #HydrogenSummit #EnergyTransition #RenewableEnergy #HydrogenTechnology #SustainableEnergy #Decarbonization #HydrogenEconomy #CleanEnergy #EnergyInnovation
