The votes have been counted, and a new government has been elected. But our ask remains the same👇 #MakethistheConvo until everyone has a place to call home. As we welcome the new government, we would like to thank everyone who helped to make ending homelessness a key focus during this election period. We know that homelessness can be ended, and we see hope given to so many people each day. However, unfortunately we’re also seeing record numbers of people in crisis arriving at our door. In 21st-century Britain, it is simply unacceptable that anyone should have to sleep out on our streets. During the election campaign, we outlined the three areas that need to be delivered by whoever won the election, to end homelessness: https://lnkd.in/euvRf8Wc We look forward to working with the new government to bring about the change that is required to achieve our vision of a society where everyone has a place to call home. What we ask from you is simple, continue this important conversation💬 #EndingHomelessness #EmergencyOnOurStreets

Voting is a powerful tool for change, and your support can help ensure that the voices of individuals experiencing homelessness are heard. As trusted providers, your involvement makes a critical impact. Why Should Providers Get Involved? Promote racial equity: Many people experiencing homelessness come from historically marginalized communities. Supporting them in navigating the voting process helps reduce participation gaps and fosters equity. Every voice counts: Everyone has the right to be heard at the polls, including those without stable housing. Their vote can shape decisions that directly impact their lives and communities. Early voting is ending soon: In Georgia, early voting ends this Friday. Now is the time to assist clients with accessing polling locations and exercising their rights. For more information and guidance on how to engage in these efforts, visit the @National Alliance to End Homelessness resource: https://lnkd.in/gm4SW6n Thank you for your dedication to empowering your clients. Together, we can ensure everyone has an equal opportunity to participate in our democracy.

5 Tips to writing an impactful letter to Congress by Catholic Relief Services: 1. Credential Yourself -Identify yourself as a constituent -List the organization that you represent or are a member of. 2. Keep it Short -Limit your letter to 1 page (if possible). -What do you want them to do? 3. Be Yourself -Why does this issue matter to you? -Have you traveled or met someone impacted by this issue? (Include a personal story (makes your letter more compelling & stand out.) 4. Ask -What do you want your legislator to do? -Be clear and specific; (i.e.“Vote yes in support of bill [name and number of bill].”) 5. House Keeping -Use the appropriate address and salutation. -Be polite. People respond better to positive communication. -Write legibly if writing your letter by hand. -Proofread your letter for typos & other mistakes. -According to Capitol Hill's security protocols, you'll need to send your letter to the district office which can be found on their websites. Or the general sites of the House and Senate: house.gov/ or senate.gov/ #community #speakup #congress
While the House has avoided a government shutdown, let's make sure that Congress doesn't shut down the possibility of increasing needed homelessness funds. Take action & tell your reps to support the Senate's asks here: https://lnkd.in/gE-p2rVk

🚨 Only a few days left! Join us in taking action to rally in Washington, D.C., next week as #SCOTUS prepares to hear #JohnsonVGrantsPass. 🔹 The question before the court is: can cities that fail to meet everybody’s basic needs of housing or shelter punish people with no choice but to sleep outside by using things like blankets or pillows? 🔹 The outcome will determine whether the United States will be a country that fines or arrests people for experiencing homelessness or a country that invests in solutions that ensure everyone has a safe, decent, and affordable home. 🔹 There are alternatives to arresting people that communities can act on now. 🗓️ Monday, April 22 ⏰ 10 AM — 12 PM 📍 U.S. SUPREME COURT // 1 FIRST STREET, D.C. 🔗 Learn more: https://bit.ly/3xmp8dv
