Pakistan, despite being a nation already struggling to provide resources to its massive population of 243 million, keeps growing at an alarming rate. We are set to become a nation of half a billion by 2050. This population crisis requires urgent action. The use of inclusive data to devise effective family planning policies and programs will play a crucial role in reaching a balance between people and resources and eventually creating a just, equitable and welfare society for all. #KhairKhwah #WorldPopulationDay British High Commission in Pakistan Jo Moir

Pakistan no longer has a population problem. Despite the fear mongering over a growing population, Pakistan is entering a sweet spot demographically in terms of the working population. What should we do? Perhaps begin by abolishing the Population Welfare Department. We do not mean to suggest that Pakistan’s population was never a problem. It was. But things change, and we in Pakistan tend to not pause to notice when things have improved. For the full story by Farooq Tirmizi, read on at: https://lnkd.in/dsBtecfj

From a GDP maximising perspective, #Pakistan's population doubling to 400,000,000+ by 2050 is good From a liveability, quality of life perspective it is a major disaster when our status quo is 26,500,000 out of school children, highest prevelance of easily preventable diseases like Thalassemia (due to highest rates of 1st cousin marriages) #Bangladesh is better positioned to be become a middle income country with improved human development index compared to Pakistan because of its smaller population Tiny, post Communist Soviet #Estonia has exceptional digital adoption while we can't mechanize, automate basic govt functions as our humongous population demands forcefully creating bullshit Govt jobs doled out via political cronyism to the incompetent and the malicious If you have investments in sectors like Pakistan's Cement, Manufacturing, Banks etc. and a 2nd home in Dubai, Portugal, Houston etc. then GDP maximization is all that concerns for you Resident Pakistanis hopelessly stuck here in urban hells like Karachi should want Govt to do a hell lot more than just pin all hopes on a massive, booming population numerically doubling remittances, GDP also
