🌍 Today, as we observe World Malaria Day under the theme "Accelerate the fight against malaria for a more equitable world," it's crucial to reflect on our collective efforts towards eradicating this disease. 🦟 Malaria remains a significant global health challenge, impacting millions of lives every year. India, recognizing the urgency, has set a bold target to eradicate malaria by 2030, as outlined in the National Framework for Malaria Elimination. 🔍 Despite strides made, obstacles persist, including drug resistance, inadequate sanitation, and the disproportionate impact on vulnerable populations, notably children and pregnant women. Primordial prevention is key, emphasizing grassroots awareness. 💡 Today, during a visit to a sub-centre, we initiated an impromptu malaria awareness session within a local village. With the participation of ASHA workers, ANMs, and MPWs, the community was educated on malaria basics: its signs, symptoms, and prevention methods. 🌱 This grassroots approach aligns with the WHO framework of community engagement, placing public health in the hands of the community. By fostering awareness and education at the grassroots level, reinforces the strength of India's healthcare system. Let's continue to collaborate, innovate, and accelerate our efforts to combat malaria, ensuring a healthier and more equitable world for all. #WorldMalariaDay #EndMalaria #HealthForAll

25 April 2024 Accelerating the fight against malaria for a more equitable world That is the theme of for World Malaria Day 2024 to highlight the urgent global campaign to raise in raising awareness for malaria prevention, detection and treatment services. According to the World Health Organisation (WHO) global efforts to reduce malaria have stagnated in recent years. This poses a significant threat to public health and exacerbating inequalities within communities. Everyone has the right to quality, timely and affordable malaria services, yet this remains elusive for to many, perpetuating a cycle of inequity that affects the most vulnerable among us. Infants and young children, especially those under five, are particularly affected, with disparities in access to education and financial resources compounding their risk. Let us "Accelerate the fight against malaria for a more equitable world" through: - Ending discrimination and stigma - Engaging communities in health decision-making - Bringing healthcare close to where people live and work through primary health care - Addressing factors that increase malaria risk - Including malaria control interventions in universal health coverage Together, let us commit to accelerating the fight against malaria, forging partnerships and implementing evidence-based strategies to achieve a more equitable world where no one is left behind in our quest to end malaria for good. #PROUDLYMISA #MISACARES #MISAONTHEMOVE #MISAFAMILY

Today, on April 25th, we mark World Malaria Day, an international observance dedicated to acknowledging the significant global efforts aimed at eradicating malaria, a disease that continues to affect billions worldwide. Since its establishment in 2007 by the World Health Assembly, World Malaria Day has served as a crucial platform for raising awareness and promoting sustained investment and commitment towards controlling and ultimately eliminating this life-threatening disease. Despite the challenges, significant progress has been made. From 2010 to 2015, global malaria deaths decreased by 29%, with sub-Saharan Africa witnessing a 31% decline in mortality rates. Yet, the fight is far from over. Malaria still caused an estimated 429,000 deaths globally in 2015, with 212 million new cases reported. This disease predominantly affects the most vulnerable in our societies, particularly children in Africa, underscoring the urgent need for continued research, funding, and comprehensive strategies to combat this public health threat. As we reflect on today's significance, let us reaffirm our collective resolve to advance and innovate in our approach to malaria control. This involves supporting community-based activities, fostering partnerships, and ensuring that the fight against malaria remains a priority on the global health agenda. Join hands, spread the word, and let us strive towards a malaria-free world. #WorldMalariaDay #MalariaFreeWorld #PublicHealth #GlobalHealth #EndMalaria #EqualRights

It's World Malaria Day A global initiative aimed at raising awareness about malaria and mobilizing efforts to combat this deadly disease. Malaria continues to be a significant public health challenge, particularly in regions with limited access to healthcare resources. Accelerating the fight against malaria is essential for achieving a more equitable world, where everyone has access to effective prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. Efforts to combat malaria include the distribution of insecticide-treated bed nets, indoor residual spraying, access to antimalarial medications, and ongoing research to develop new tools and strategies. These interventions not only save lives but also contribute to poverty reduction and economic development by preventing illness and promoting productivity. To accelerate the fight against malaria and achieve a more equitable world, it is crucial to strengthen health systems, increase funding for malaria prevention and control programs, enhance collaboration among governments, non-governmental organizations, and the private sector, and prioritize interventions that reach the most vulnerable populations, including children and pregnant women. By working together and investing in innovative approaches, we can move closer to the goal of eliminating malaria and creating a world where no one suffers from this preventable and treatable disease. #endmalaria #worldmalariaday #microforthresearchhub

Did you know? Over the past two decades, proper planning and execution prevented 1.7 billion Malaria cases and saved 10.6 million lives! Yesterday, #uniathena held a online webinar on this topic in which information was discussed to make it possible to achieve the "Zero Malaria Target". This webinar was very helpful for me as Dr. Omagha Rachel explained in detail about malaria, what mosquito causes it and what should be done to prevent it and how we can eliminate it completely. I didn't know before that about 240 million cases of malaria are reported in the world every year. And in 2023, 248 million cases were reported and about 0.6 million deaths were reported, which is very high. So we need urgent measures to prevent these deaths. First of all a committee team should be formed at the local level and an awareness campaign should be conducted in the same way as the campaign against polio is conducted. Similarly there is an urgent need for measures at the government level and at the same time the government should ensure the supply of malaria vaccine to the areas where malaria cases are reported. #malariaprevention #uniathena #WHO #healthawareness

Today marks World Malaria Day. You, too, can be part of the solution. Every April 25, the global health community highlights important details of malaria disease and its prevention, which is still the main leading cause of preventable illness and death over the globe. It's a day set aside to highlight the need for continued investment and sustained commitment to eliminate the disease. As a life-threatening disease, it nearly affects around 249 million cases in 2022 and 608,000 deaths across 85 countries, with the majority of its burden recorded in Africa. This accounts for roughly 233 million (94%) of malaria cases and 95% (580,000) of malaria deaths across the continent. Among the deaths, approximately 80% are children under the age of five, while threatening the health and lives of pregnant women, particularly maternal and neonatal deaths. Everyone deserves to have the chance to live a healthy life, which is why commitment to finding solutions to eliminate the disease becomes our collective responsibility through collaborative efforts and partnerships. Achieving a malaria-free world will need us all to work together, contributing towards its eradication, with emphasis on philanthropic investment, offering a wealth of untapped potential in closing existing funding gaps in the malaria response. #WorldMalariaDay2024 #malaria #IbrahimIsmailElnafat

🎗️Don't Forget Malaria: Staying Vigilant on World Malaria Day‼️ Today, on World Malaria Day, Check me joins the global fight against this preventable disease. 👩🎤While our focus is on women's health, malaria remains a significant public health concern, particularly for pregnant women and children. ☹️Malaria has devastated communities worldwide. In fact, it was only in the 19th century that scientists identified the mosquito as the culprit behind malaria transmission. Today, thanks to advancements in prevention and treatment, malaria deaths have significantly declined. However, vigilance is still crucial. Malaria is not a cancer🔊🔊 While some malaria symptoms can mimic certain cancers, like fatigue and fever, it's important to remember that malaria also causes chills, headaches, muscle aches, and nausea. But just like cancers, early diagnosis and treatment are critical to prevent complications. If you're experiencing these symptoms, especially after traveling to high-risk areas, consult a healthcare provider promptly. #WorldMalariaDay #CheckYourHealth #MalariaPrevention #StayHealthy

On World Malaria Day, April 25th, we are reminded of the ongoing battle against malaria, especially in the Global South, where this disease continues to claim lives and undermine economic stability. Despite global efforts, the latest data from 2023 highlights persistent challenges, with an estimated 247 million cases globally, underscoring the vital need for continued action in regions such as Sub-Saharan Africa, Southeast Asia, and parts of Latin America. These areas, burdened with the highest incidences of malaria, face not only public health crises but also economic challenges as the disease impacts workforce productivity and strains healthcare systems. To combat these challenges, international and local organizations are intensifying their efforts. The World Health Organization (WHO), the Global Fund, and local health ministries are leading the charge by enhancing the distribution of insecticide-treated nets, scaling up indoor residual spraying programs, and promoting the use of the RTS, S malaria vaccine, which shows promise in reducing the severity of the disease. As we mark World Malaria Day, let's reaffirm our commitment to supporting these life-saving initiatives and promoting policies that improve healthcare access and disease prevention, paving the way toward eradicating malaria and improving lives in the most affected regions. #WorldMalariaDay #EndMalaria #HealthForAll #GlobalHealthInitiatives
