Sifted has summarized the results of European venture funding in January and reports a decline in seed stages. Funds invested £418 million in 265 startups at the pre-seed and seed stages. This is 38% less than January of the previous year. Germany leads in terms of the amount of money invested, followed by the UK, and surprisingly, Spain closes the top three. European VCs invested the most in health tech (£76 million). The least investment went into travel and recruitment, with £11 million and £8 million, respectively. #Venture #Funding #European #Startups #TechTrends

It seems that the MENA startup ecosystem is still suffering from a significant downturn, as the total investment took a dip from $254 million in March to only $55 million in April, a 78% MoM decline. One of the most noticeable trends last month was a decline in investment in #SaudiArabia, with only three Saudi startups receiving $4.8 million. Meanwhile, the Egyptian ecosystem has seen some activity, with five startups having garnered $8.7 million. For more insights, read the full analysis at Wamda ومضة.
The amount invested in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region fell drastically in April 2024, with only 19 startups raising $55 million, a 78% fall month-on-month (MoM) from $254 million raised in March but an 87% increase year-on-year (YoY). #Startups #Mena #Investments #Funding

Africa's startup funding landscape has been significantly slower so far compared to 2023. However, July's high of $443 million is giving investors so hope. Thanks to the massive boost of funding in July, funding raised in Q3 exceeded that of Q1 and 2 combined. Seeing such growth despite a global slowdown is a great reminder of Africa's potential. #EmergingMarkets #Funding #Startups
