I always cringe when I see a video of myself, but after watching a few times, it takes me back to how I felt back in December when I was in Nashville for Barge Design Solutions Corporate Orientation. We had our Annual Meeting in Nashville this past weekend, where the entire Barge team (and our families) were invited for a weekend at Opryland! The weekend only got me more excited for what's to come. Main takeaways: 1. Ownership: While Barge is privately held, our stock has out-performed most companies on the NYSE over the past 3 years and growth projections don't seem to be slowing down anytime soon. The ability to have ownership in the company you work for brings on a whole new level of excitement and authenticity to the day to day work. 2. Legacy: Barge's record of getting "selected when it matters the most" has led to an unbelievable portfolio of high profile projects around the Southeast. We are excited to continue that legacy here in South Carolina. 3. Impact: The work we do, whether it be for the private sector, state and local sector, or the federal government, has made a lasting impact on businesses, communities, patients, and our military. We are people taking care of people.

Those words were spoken to me about the construction industry this morning by a 30+ year veteran of Sargent. I hired him as a laborer in 1992. He talked about his preparedness to meet challenges, both personal and professional -- and how prepared he will be for eventual retirement, 10-15 years away. He has built a LIFE in this industry. And while HE's built a life, I also know he has impacted hundreds of lives during his career, and will continue to do so. That's what this industry CAN mean to people. Let's make sure it DOES mean this to people. Their futures can be changed, and they can change futures. It's a big part of why I love what I do. Watch below, and you might wonder why that place is so busy. You are seeing just a sliver of the 76,000-square-foot teaching and training facility. To put that into perspective, the average Walmart is 107,000 square feet. Beyond the 76,000 square feet, you will find a multi-sales channel monster business that reinvests money and resources into its community and members. It has a separate website with over 500 like-minded businesses that refer business to each other. It has been my experience that to thrive, you must have a purpose, and it can't be to make money first but to provide a purpose to your community and customers; the cash seems to flow when you are a purpose-driven business. The founders are probably among the top 10 most active in using their time and resources to defend our rights, not just #2A rights. The more you learn, the more you will learn the importance of #standingstrong and stopping the out-of-control state and gov spending to circumvent our rights. It's unbelievable. The business has a purpose. Does your business stand strong for something and have an actual purpose? It might be what you are missing.
