Since our first flexible workspace, Koba @ 100 Barbirolli Square, opens in October 2024, we asked our new GM Christopher Griffin some questions about how he will approach his role to enhance the residents' experience whilst focusing on sustainability practices... 💡What will be your focus for the residents who we welcome into Koba @ 100 Barbirolli Sq? "As General Manager for Koba @ 100 Barbirolli Sq, I will be working with my team to ensure that we are delivering a best-in-class, premium experience to all our residents. With a focus on expertly crafted weekly events schedules, designed to promote wellness, enhance productivity, help forge connections and drive networking in an honest & meaningful way." ✅ What attracted you to work at Koba? "There are quite a few flex operators presently in the market, but none of them are really offering a point of difference. When I heard about the Koba opportunity I was genuinely excited about the operator's sustainability credentials. There are a lot of providers making claims around sustainability, but very few are openly holding themselves to account, or delivering on their commitments with such transparency. The sustainability manifesto coupled with our commitment to premium delivery of services sealed the deal for me!" 🌳 Sustainability is imperative at Koba; how can residents get involved with these practices? "Sustainability is imperative for all of us as the impacts of climate change are already being widely felt. I must stress that we won’t be allowing residents to take space with us only if they can prove that they operate in a sustainable way. If a company - big or small – can start their sustainability journey (commitment?) by taking space with us, then we are having a wider impact. Without getting too deep, there is a commitment to our legacy – to ensure that we’re doing right today for the future of tomorrow." 🌱 Anything you’d like to add..? "I am really excited to launch Koba @ 100 Barbirolli Square in October – we have exciting plans for the future and not just around our approach to sustainability and our own growth, but also with our ‘class of’ partnership with IntoUniversity – we will work with our residents to offer experience, mentorship and internships to young people from disadvantaged backgrounds – offering them opportunities that would not ordinarily be available to them." For more information about Koba and booking a site visit, contact Christopher Griffin or Taylor Farrimond for more details, we can't wait to see you! #mcr #sustainable #flexibleworkspace #circulardesign

The other day, while walking through the offices of TechPark CV to gather people for our first morning stretch, I noticed something: the atmosphere felt heavy, energy was low, and there was a reluctance to leave the desk. It made me wonder, how can we expect innovation and fresh ideas in an environment like this? Are we reducing ourselves to machines, simply going through the motions? This experience reaffirmed for me that work culture in Cabo Verde needs to change if we want to position ourselves as a true hub of innovation: More trust is essential: Productivity isn’t about being chained to a desk from 9 to 5. We need to trust people to get the job done, and in turn, employees must take responsibility and deliver when trust is placed in them. We need diverse workspaces: Sitting at a desk all day can be monotonous, stressful, and uninspiring. Why not mix it up with standing desks, cozy soft seats, or even a hammock outdoors? Increased interaction is key: We can’t grow in isolation. Regular exchanges and learning from those around us fuel creativity and collaboration. I believe shared spaces can play a major role in this transformation. In a world where workplace well-being is a priority, not every company can afford to offer these amenities and activities within their own walls, especially in developing countries like Cabo Verde . So why not share them?

Now that sustainability is an important theme for companies and organizations, the accessibility of an office is becoming increasingly important. It's why we're very happy with the central location of Nieuwe Vaart: 🚅 It's only a 15 minute walk to Utrecht Centraal, the largest public transport hub in the Netherlands; 🚌 The bus terminal is at a 5 minute walk away; 🚲 Our bicycle storage is the best dry and safe place for your two-wheeler. How are you commuting to work?

If you approach sustainable living positively and make it easy, you offer perspectives for action and people can take enormous steps in a short time. It is at the heart of what Shift does, a young company that helps mainly municipalities support their residents with the transition to a sustainable and circular lifestyle. It is like music to Benvalor's ears. Jeroen Rijssenbeek: “It is a typical case of practice what you preach: given the many impact-driven founders, impact investors and other clients who are committed to a better and greener world that Benvalor supports, we should also step up our game ourselves.” And so Jeroen and his colleagues asked the team of Shift and founder/CEO Don Ritzen to get a deeper understanding of what Benvalor can improve to make its business operations and office behavior more sustainable. Can we have a vegetarian lunch? What about our commute and what is our carbon footprint? This process started with mapping support and awareness. “That first tour showed that just about everyone in the office thinks it is important that we do this. It is a shared ambition to create a more sustainable office.” The Benvalor team continues to work on awareness through online training and real life sessions. “Shift will then provide us with suggestions to make our thinking and actions greener,” Jeroen says. And Jeroen's own footprint? He tries to make it as small as possible. “I don’t buy meat or fish products, eat vegetarian as much as possible and travel by public transport and bicycle. A more sustainable Benvalor should be easily achieved, I have every confidence!” How green is your office? What steps towards a smaller footprint have already been taken? #carbonfootprint #sustainableoffice #greener

🌿 Sustainability is a journey that starts with each of us — both in our personal lives and in our workplaces. 🌍 Sustainability isn’t just a business strategy; it’s a way of life. It’s about making choices that benefit our planet and our well-being. Personally, I find that spending time in nature, managing stress, and surrounding myself with environments that boost my energy are essential parts of living sustainably. Whether it's a hike in the woods, a walk by the sea, or a moment of mindfulness, these practices ground me and remind me of what we’re all working towards — a healthier, more sustainable world. 🏡💻 I’m incredibly grateful to be part of the fantastic Worldfavor team, where sustainability is at the core of everything we do. Our work culture allows us to create flexible, sustainable work environments that help us thrive professionally and personally. We believe that a sustainable work culture supports both our mission and our team's well-being. The work we do at Worldfavor, the inspiring and fantastic colleagues I get to work with, our fantastic Impact House Office and the mindful choices we make every day are all steps toward a more sustainable future. It’s about more than just minimizing footprints; it’s about creating a world where both businesses and people can flourish. 🌱 How are you bringing sustainability into your personal life and work environment? I’d love to hear your thoughts! (today my workplace is the beautiful and inspiring Hamnkontoret Vaxholm Business Center ☀ ) #Sustainability #CorporateSustainability #SustainableLiving #Mindfulness #Worldfavor #SustainableFuture #WellBeing #SustainableSourcing
