So, we started tracking it with our New to Brand (NTB) AMC Dashboard. We monitor the monthly NTB purchases and % at an ASIN level. When it comes to Prime Day, we run the same quieres for the promotional period and compare the numbers. What we've noticed? New to Brand customers usually spike during big sales events like Prime Day.

As the dust settles on prime day (and Amazons delayed order data comes in!) We had a stonking prime day considering we dont discount, cut or damage clients margins and minimise profitability...... Prime day 2023 (Day 1) V Prime Day 2024 (Day 1) - 38.6% revenue Increase Prime day 2023 (Day 2) V Prime Day 2024 (Day 2) - 32.6% revenue increase But heres the cruncher.... Massive increase in CPC and ACOS increases compared to prime day last year.... CPC increased by 30% on average. ACOS Increased by 23% on average. This just shows you don't need to massively discount to get sustainable growth on the platform, your margins will already be impacted from ad ROI.

When I started at VST a few months ago, Nick Theodore made me a promise that I'd never look at a supermarket shelf the same way again. A recent VST study of Shopper Behaviour found that when approaching a shelf, over half of shoppers start their decision-making process by looking for the cheapest product available. Is this me? Truthfully, it depends how heavy the month has been up to that point! What is more certain though, is the cost of inaction for brands.
