After working at Moore Durban in the HR department for over 10 years I wanted to share some insight with first-time SAICA trainee applicants, Here are my top 10 key pieces of advice when applying for a SAICA contract: Research and Understand the Requirements: Familiarize yourself with the SAICA trainee requirements, including academic qualifications, skills, and competencies. Prepare a Strong Application: Tailor your application to highlight your relevant qualifications, skills, and experiences. Emphasize any leadership roles, extracurricular activities, or relevant work experience. Prepare for the Interview: Be ready to discuss your academic background, career goals, and why you want to pursue a career as a chartered accountant. Practice answering common interview questions. Demonstrate Your Skills: Showcase your analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills throughout the application and interview process. Show Your Commitment: Highlight your passion for the accounting profession and your willingness to commit to the training program and the requirements of becoming a chartered accountant. Seek Support: If possible, seek advice from current or former SAICA trainees or professionals in the field to gain insights into the application process and the profession. Be Persistent: The application process can be competitive, so be prepared for the possibility of facing rejection. Use any feedback to improve your application for future opportunities. Stay Informed: Keep up to date with the latest developments in the accounting profession and SAICA requirements to demonstrate your commitment and interest. Network: Attend networking events and engage with professionals in the field to build relationships and gain insights into the profession. Stay Positive: The application process can be challenging, but stay positive and focused on your goal of becoming a chartered accountant.

A trainee accountant joined the headquarters of a large firm. He was a graduate from a famous university. On his first day he dialed the canteen and shouted into the phone, "Get me some coffee, quick!" The voice from the other end responded "You fool; you've dialled the wrong extension! Do you know who you are talking to?" "No," replied the trainee accountant. "It's the Managing Partner, you fool!" the voice shouted back. The trainee did some quick thinking and asked forcefully, "And do you know who YOU are talking to, you fool?" "No," replied the Managing Partner. "Good," said the trainee as he hung up.

If you're interested in a career in accountancy (and obviously you should be 😉), then come and join one of our trainee recruitment evenings to find out more. Accountancy is a career where success doesn't depend on heading off to university; becoming an accountancy apprentice is a real alternative. #Ensors #apprenticeships #trainee
We are holding a series of open evenings aimed at potential applicants for our 2025 Trainee Accountant Programme. Further details available here: https://lnkd.in/eNBjtAbH

Chargé de Programme et Responsable Communication. Maître de cérémonie bilingue (fr/en). Modérateur. Communicant. Journaliste.
JOB, JOBBER, JOBBEST - Lesson learnt no 1 Most of us claim to be autonomous while looking for an opportunity, and i guess it’s right. But being autonomous doesn’t mean you don’t need others. From the intern to the head, everyone’s experience is important and there's always something to learn. That's why team building and a good atmosphere are keys to improvement. Of course, i may organize a seminar/workshop myself, from the very first steps to the final report. But after a meeting with Mr Humbleness and Mrs Wisdom, you quickly learn that the insight of a colleague, even from another field can help you reach your goal. Something you didn’t notice, a piece of the puzzle you missed may be called out by your mate. And more technically, what would you do without your accountant? Your trainee? Your assistant? Team work is great work, especially if everyone feels useful and a part of the whole process. Trust your guyz. Work smart. They’re a second family. Greetings to all graduates My name is Richade’ Booysen ,a Finance intern at CCG Systems. It’s my first time posting 😊but I just wanted to encourage all job seekers and those whose contracts are coming to an end. Looking down memory lane. I was a Trainee Investigator at the office of the Public Protector South Africa,a twelve (12) month contract. And believe you me I was sure I would be taken on permanently or perhaps get an extension. Long story short. My supervisor at the time drafted a letter to the CFO to extend my contract as I was performing very well and because I wasn’t paid by the institution but by SASSETA . The request was declined. Nevertheless it’s not the end of the world. 🌍 It felt like my world is ending but actually this was an opportunity to develop myself. I read books. 📚 I watched interview video’s on YouTube for positions within the finance field since I studied Bcom Financial Accoutancy. I started reading on how I can improve my email etiquette and how to answer the phone and speak on the phone eloquently. As a trainee investigator one thing was clear ,we served the public and we spoke to a lot of individuals of different backgrounds. So consulting and speaking to complaints was key. Don’t be sad just because the job is ending and a new offer isn’t presenting itself. Find ways on how to self develop yourself. Improve. Become the best version of yourself. Prepare for the new job. And never lose hope and faith that God will come through. #LearningEveryday#FailingAndWinning#ButGivingUpIsNotAnOptionEver🙏
