Upfront surgery for stage IIIA/B non-small cell lung cancer: retrospective cohort study ➡️https://lnkd.in/dtY5PyHp This study provides important real-world data, with a sufficient sample size, that upfront surgery for stage IIIA/B non-small cell lung cancer could have an acceptable perioperative morbidity rate and favourable long-term survival, particularly when combined with adjuvant therapies. This study identifies specific patient characteristics that may make them more suitable candidates for upfront surgery, such as younger age, smaller tumour size, limited nodal involvement, and no distant metastases. Marco Oderda and colleagues from Università degli Studi di Torino. 🌟 Research Update 🌟 I am pleased to share our latest research article on the use of Indocyanine Green (ICG) in assessing the perfusion of mastectomy skin flaps following breast cancer surgery. 📝🔬 🔍 Role of Qualitative and Quantitative Indocyanine Green Angiography to Assess Mastectomy Skin Flaps Perfusion: A Prospective Monocentric Experience In this study, we explored how ICG fluorescence imaging can help evaluate the viability of mastectomy skin flaps. Happy to share that our abstract presented at the 42nd Congress of the European Society of Surgical Oncology (ESSO) is now published in European Journal of Surgical Oncology. We describe a novel technique for performing delayed SLNB using ICG, as the dye appears to be retained in the sentinel nodes for up to 3 weeks. This allows omission of axillary surgery at the time of breast cancer surgery, when the indication of such procedure is not clear and the risk lymphoedema outweighs the benefit of doing SLNB. https://lnkd.in/d29Tswgw
