Wisdom demands ongoing learning, and we believe there is wisdom in all our stories! RJIOK staff recently attended a session of the “Building a Liberatory Narrative Training Tour” by the Foundation for Liberating Minds. FLM teaches participants about the narratives that reinforce the carceral state in Oklahoma and how we can interrupt them so that true justice, safety, accountability, redemption and community are realized. After 100s of lawmaker meetings over the years… Here are the top 5 mistakes I see clients & lobbyists make. (All of which I’ve made myself!) What are they? • Diving into the issue without any get-to-know-you • Making an ask in 1st mtg, instead of offering to be a resource • Doing no homework on their background/interests • Using acronyms and technical jargon • Not reading the room / having a one-sided convo Every meeting is an opportunity to further your advocacy goal, so… Prepare in advance, practice, & keep these in your mental checklist during the mtg. For my fellow advocates out there, What would you add to the list?

Education Consultant with a focus on leadership, literacy, numeracy, coaching, data, and high performing teams (K-12).
I recently published a blog post on a memorable student. “It’s inspiring how some young people despite their traumatic, or dysfunctional upbringings overcome this to break the cycle in a way that you can’t help but admire. Lessons for all of us, regardless of the hand we are dealt in life.” Check out the full blog post below. https://lnkd.in/gGcUk9zg

What if trees never truly die? Instead, they become tree children—transformed into something new, full of life and beauty. They become SteeWoo. #SteeWoo #Sustainability #EcoFriendly #LebaneseCraftsmanship #ArtAndNature #TreeOfLife #CreativeDesign #Handcrafted #PreservingNature #SmallBusiness
Our Story The story of SteeWoo began when I first became a mother, taking care of my little child, Steve. As winter approached, my family started gathering wood to heat our home. It was during this time that I had a realization—although a tree may be cut down to keep us warm, it gives birth to countless trunks, each with its own character, unique appearance, and beauty. What if these Lebanese trees could stay with us? What if their trunks could be transformed into slices and kept in our homes, serving various purposes and acting as souvenirs from these trees? A tree doesn't simply die; it creates numerous trunks, which in turn become slices—souvenirs that preserve the essence of the tree. And thus, these "tree children" became SteeWoo.
