A big round of applause to Fund My Mission scholarship recipient, Corey Scarpa! 🎉 Congratulations! The mission for Corey's life is to make a positive impact in the local community by empowering individuals through education, mindset, and growth opportunities. Corey envisions a long-term approach to his mission. Here's how he put it when he applied for the scholarship: "This mission is not a one-time occurrence, but rather something that accumulates and compounds over time. The dividends are seen in the form of a more vibrant, resilient, and harmonious community. By investing in individuals, we're investing in our community's future. That's why my mission is so important to me - it's not just about improving individual lives, but about enhancing our collective wellbeing." 💙 At his core, Corey recognizes the benefit of accountability: "Because I want someone to help hold me accountable for my goals and help me achieve the success I know I can have to live a life by design and not by default." Love to see how you're leaning into your life-changing mission, Corey! 👏 To learn more about the self-development programs we offer to young adults under 30, go here: https://bit.ly/3XKIxNr

Join Us in Empowering Future Leaders! I’m honored to serve on the advisory board at Minds Matter SoCal, an inspiring organization dedicated to transforming the lives of motivated students from under-resourced communities. What We Do: At Minds Matter SoCal, our work centers around four key areas that are essential to our students' success: 1. Mentorship: Each student is paired with a dedicated mentor who offers personalized guidance and support. Our mentors, who come from diverse backgrounds and professions, play a crucial role in helping students build confidence, set academic and personal goals, and develop the skills necessary for success. 2. Academic Enrichment: We provide a comprehensive curriculum designed to enhance students' academic skills. Our workshops cover critical thinking, writing, and test preparation, ensuring that students are well-prepared for challenges in school and on standardized tests. 3. College Preparation: Navigating the college application process can be daunting, especially for first-generation college students. Minds Matter SoCal guides students through every step, from researching colleges to understanding application requirements. 4. Financial Literacy and Scholarships: We believe that financial barriers should not prevent students from pursuing higher education. Our program educates students about financial aid options, scholarships, and budgeting for college expenses. Volunteer Opportunities: We are actively seeking passionate volunteers to help us in various capacities: · Mentors: If you have a desire to inspire and guide young minds, consider becoming a mentor. · Tutors: We welcome individuals who can offer subject-specific assistance. · Event Coordinators: Join us in planning and executing workshops, fundraising events, and community outreach initiatives. Ways to Support Us: Your support is invaluable and can create a lasting impact on our students' lives! · Financial Contributions: Donations directly fund our programs and scholarships, enabling us to reach more students each year. Every dollar counts and contributes to changing lives. · In-Kind Donations: We appreciate supplies, books, and resources that can aid our students in their studies. Your contributions help enhance their educational experience. Why It Matters: Education is a powerful tool that opens doors and creates opportunities. By supporting Minds Matter SoCal, you are helping to break the cycle of poverty and empower students to become the leaders of tomorrow. Your involvement can inspire hope and drive change in our community. Let’s work together to inspire and uplift the next generation! If you’re interested in volunteering or donating, please visit www.mindsmattersocal.org or feel free to reach out to me directly. Thank you for considering joining our mission! Together, we can create lasting change and help shape the future of our students.

We were thrilled to take part in the Strategic School Staffing Summit hosted by Arizona State University’s Next Education Workforce initiative earlier this month. The summit brought together over 600 education leaders from school districts, higher ed, nonprofits, philanthropy, and government to celebrate innovative and practical approaches to team-based education. We learned how new approaches to teacher preparation and staffing can: + improve working conditions for teachers + reduce their isolation and overload + accelerate their growth What had us excited? Emerging research on the differentiated roles and distributed expertise of team-based teaching. We’re considering how skilled mentors and coaches can support team effectiveness and teacher development. Learn more: https://ow.ly/urYq50QFFWI

Reflecting on April... Began the month in NOLA for National School Boards Association and heard keynotes from Ruby Bridges and Tim Shriver, traveled to Lockport (IL) where the EOS partnership has supported a year-1 increase of 24% participation in AP, and heard Jason Green ('solutions must be future-forward') keynote the Multicultural Student Achievement Network's Institute, in Madison. Takeaways: ~Relying on past practices and outdated models only serves to perpetuate existing inequities and limit the potential of students. ~To impact educational equity, we must embrace a 'future-forward' approach that breaks away from traditional and outdated teacher practices and assumptions about students’ academic potential. ~By looking forward, we can envision a more inclusive and equitable educational system that meets the needs of all learners, regardless of their background or circumstances. ~It is essential that we challenge the status quo, rethink our assumptions, and explore new ways of approaching education that are more responsive to the diverse needs of students. ~By embracing a 'future-forward' mindset, we can create a more dynamic and inclusive educational landscape that empowers all learners to thrive and succeed in their post-secondary pursuits. It's not too late to engage with Equal Opportunity Schools and join our dynamic cohort of high schools for the 2024-25 school year.

Firstly, I want to give glory to God for allowing me to stand here and share my story on this public platform. Ever wondered why Miss Beh hasn't been posting her adventurous educational updates? Well... It's been a challenging six months since I started my educational journey at Hult International Business School. Every day, I've had to put on a positive smile to distract myself from the harsh realities awaiting me at home. Growing up in South London, where 90% of teachers speak negatively about your future, it's been an uphill battle. But I refuse to let statistics define my story. And that determination continues. Being part of higher education full-time, where only 37.5% (Professional HE, 2023) have experienced what I've gone through, has been unforgettable. It's been a constant struggle to assert my rights as a dyslexic, black individual, and more importantly, to find acceptance in companies. These past six months have taught me the importance of being my authentic self. It's about speaking up about uncomfortable truths that often remain unspoken, and it's about living a life that brings about meaningful change and impact. Now, with just two months left, I'm thinking creatively about my educational journey. But I want this to also be a platform for others who aspire to pursue education without the financial burdens that often come with it in our economy. My goals: 1. Raise awareness for master's degree students in need of community support. 2. Encourage companies to be more open to degree students. 3. If you resonate with my journey, check out my GoFundMe page and support me in continuing my summer electives. [Link to GoFundMe page: https://gofund.me/0f51c564] Let's make education accessible for everyone who dreams of aiming higher in their careers. Like 👍🏽 , comment 🗣️, share 🤝and repost 🔁 our story to your network. Thank you for your time✨.
