Finding the right stream, getting into the flow—that’s the magic moment of “when dots are connected” we all strive and seek for. Today, a small, grounded but mighty team of animators, composers, writers from Latvia, steered by director Gints Zilbalodis, has experienced another kind of magic: their cocreation, hard work, creativity, and flow have been recognized with a Golden Globe Award. Wooww. (Apart from other 29 awards and 52 nominations) This is not only a celebration of their achievement but an inspiration for each of us. A powerful encouragement that doing a THING, charting a course, being grounded, humble, “keeping it real” in its most sensible way can lead towards greatness and incredible recognition. What a way to start the year! Woow.

Why are we making an animated short film if most of our experience is in live action? Because our short film's story calls for animation. When we look at a story that we want to share with the world, we intentionally think about what medium is best suited to tell that story in. Maybe the answer is just one medium... maybe it's a mixture of mediums. Either way, this decision can have a huge impact on the delivery of a story. This delivery matters to us, and we want to give the best experience possible for everyone who watches a film of ours. My short film "Dodeca - the womb" was selected out of more than 4000 films and premiered at the 47th Drama International Short Film Festival in September 2024. It competed in two categories, the International Animation and the National Student Competition. Everything in the film, including the soundtrack, was created by me using a few programs, like blender. No A.I. was involved, just years of dedication, of learning and passion. Generator’s SIRT Centre are the recipients of best choreography and special effects awards in the global competition, 48 Hour Film Project.  SIRT’s seven-person crew created "A Key to Paradise," a short, animated film about two treasure hunters seeking a mysterious treasure with a hidden truth. The team leveraged their in-house #virtualproduction expertise and tools such as Epic’s Unreal Engine 5, FAB assets and an Optitrack motion capture system to create the film in 48 hours, reducing pre- and post-production time.
