Team Executive Contaminated Land Management and Water WA, Environmental Scientist

** Synopsis **"This artwork embodies the essence of West Australian mining landscapes, vividly depicting the rugged beauty of the region's raw earth and mineral-rich depths. Through ochre, sienna, and salt lake pink tones, it captures the industry's resilience and grit. Amidst this terrain emerges a real and raw sketched portrait of a woman in mining - a testament to human determination and strength intertwined with the land's formidable essence. Her presence symbolises the intrinsic bond between humanity and the earth, emphasising women's integral role in this physically demanding mining industry.  The similarities between her roughly sketched lines and the robust textures of the mining earth highlights the harmony and resilience within this relationship. The painting provokes contemplation on the interplay between land beauty and human spirit, encapsulating the profound story of Western Australia's mining industry. It's a tale conveyed through vibrant earth hues and the empowering presence of women within this realm." (Detail of Blazing Through the Dust). AngHart, 2023 Ang Hart
