Philanthropic Fundraising Services Fund II Foundation was established in 2014 for the purpose of making grants to public charities. To date, we have made grants worth over $260 million to a broad range of charities, including The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, The United Negro College Fund, NPower, The Opportunity Network and The National Park Foundation. To rekindle hope and community economic success, we have doubled down on our investments in preparing and supporting students studying in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fields. We are committed to facilitating their growth to become thriving professionals and entrepreneurs through internXL, an innovative platform that matches promising talent with internship opportunities in companies throughout the United States. Technology touches every industry. It is a field where the demand for talent is growing exponentially. We understand to engage our youth of today; we must connect our future to theirs. We also have several pillars to which we are devoted. Twelve years ago, I pivoted my career to the charity sector; it was the best move I could make - but there are many ways to back an important social cause. For those of you who know me well, education was my ticket out of a very unpredictable and unstable upbringing. One of my many joys in life has been to give back to underrepresented youth. And one of the most important organizations my wife Devon Gold and I have committed our time and resources to is Peninsula Bridge, a Bay Area-based non-profit that serves more than 900 students each year – all from low-income backgrounds – on a 13 year path from 4th grade through college graduation. Here are some measures of the organization's incredible effectiveness: -- 100% of Peninsula Bridge students graduate high school admissible to UC/CSU compared to 30% of low-income students in California; -- 100% of Peninsula Bridge students are admitted to 4 year colleges and universities; -- 94% of Peninsula Bridge students are on track to graduate college in 4-6 years compared to 11% of low-income students nationally This past summer, The Trium Group hired two amazing interns, Victor Hernandez Barajas and Luis Mendoza Ramirez. And last week, my wife and I attended the annual fundraiser where I personally pledged to amplify my impact by reaching out to my network to ask for support. This is that outreach. A few more details: - We offer huge flexibility in terms of working hours and location, with the team working mostly from home but with the chance to go and work from one of our offices. I work 5 days in 4, mostly from home, and my hours suit my life as a mum, looking after my two young children aged 3 and 1. - We really care about work/life balance and supporting our team to look after themselves, so they're in the best position to help children. Working for a charity like Save is amazing, but it can also be emotional, so we want to prioritise wellbeing. AELP 👏 I hope your efforts to provide the statistics around the impact Functional Skills is having on learners, employers and training providers pays off! 👀 This is not only financially, but mentally challenging for those who are trying to teach something that everyone else has failed at. 😵 Yes, the sense of achievement is amazing when there is a success story, but it can be demoralising for both learners and tutors when it's not. A simple change from an outcome of a pass/fail to a grading system which still allows ANYONE to complete an apprenticeship is all that is needed. (In my opinion). As Education providers we are encouraged to embed British Values, yet the current requirements don't allow us to put this into practice. #democracy We should be promoting and encouraging education for EVERYONE! Yet functional skills in the apprenticeship world is STILL a barrier for some. #changeisneeded #functionalskills
