Orange Basin Farm-in Alert! Petrobras has taken 10% in Block 343ER (a.k.a. the Deep Western Orange Basin (DWOB) block) in South Africa. The stake was acquired from operator TotalEnergies. The massive block, covering nearly 30,000 km², borders Namibia to the north and PEL 39, where Shell made the basin-opening Graff discovery. We expect TotalEnergies to drill on the acreage, and on adjacent Block 3B/4B, in 2025. Other partners in DWOB are QatarEnergy and local firm Sezigyn. The move by Petrobras is the latest in a flurry of activity from the Brazilian NOC as it increasingly looks internationally to bolster its long-term opportunity set – it recently signed MoUs with YPF (Argentina’s NOC) and Staatsolie Maatschappij Suriname N.V (Suriname’s NOC) to co-operate on exploration and production. It also placed a bid for a 40% stake in Galp’s Mopane (PEL 83) discovery in Namibia.

Exciting developments in the Orange Basin! 🚨 Petrobras has officially acquired a 10% stake in Block 343ER (Deep Western Orange Basin) from TotalEnergies. This 30,000 km² block lies between Namibia and South Africa, with key players like Shell, QatarEnergy, and Sezigyn involved. TotalEnergies plans to begin drilling by 2025, with adjacent Block 3B/4B also set for exploration. This move aligns with Petrobras's international strategy, building on recent MoUs with YPF (Argentina) and Staatsolie (Suriname) to enhance its global exploration portfolio. Additionally, Petrobras has bid for a 40% stake in Galp's Mopane (PEL 83) discovery in Namibia, further expanding its footprint in Africa. Big things ahead for the energy sector! ⚡️ #EnergyNews #Petrobras #TotalEnergies #OilAndGas #Exploration #OrangeBasin

Galp’s new discovery offshore Namibia has been successfully tested, with flows from the Mopane-1X well hitting the maximum limit of 14,000 barrels oil equivalent per day in a test. The Portuguese oil major, in a statement on Sunday, described Mopane as ‘potentially an important commercial discovery’. It reckons the discovered Mopane complex alone could contain hydrocarbon in-place in excess of 10 billion barrels of oil equivalent, and it sees possible additional exploration and appraisal wells in the project’s vicinity. “All acquired data from the current Mopane drilling campaign will be analysed and integrated into an updated reservoir model. The model will serve as the basis to refine Galp´s near-term drilling plan to further explore, appraise and develop the wider Mopane complex,” the company said in a statement. Galp owns 80% of the project where it drilled the Mopane-1X well and made the... More at #Proactive #ProactiveInvestors http://ow.ly/r1qC105qeLZ

Shell fires up plan to drill exploration wells in South Africa near huge Namibia discoveries Shell has filed plans for a multi-well drilling campaign in an ultra-deepwater Orange basin block in South Africa, adjacent to Namibian acreage where the supermajor and TotalEnergies have made some huge discoveries. The UK-based giant is following in the footsteps of TotalEnergies, which looks set to begin wildcatting next year in two other blocks offshore South Africa, lying south of the area that Shell is interested in but in the same basin. https://lnkd.in/dFChmUB4
