The report examines the ten evidence-based benefits and policies implemented by businesses with family-friendly work environments and highlights the competitive advantage these benefits provide in attracting and retaining employees. Some of their key findings include: 💡 On-site child care will continue to grow: While still a relatively rare benefit, the implementation rate of on-site child care is growing faster than any other benefit, with a 47% increase since 2019. 💡 Flexible work arrangements are here to stay, benefiting both companies and working parents.  💡 Parental leave and child care support are differentiators in a competitive talent market. Each year, when Mother's Day approaches, as a husband and father of a toddler, I take a moment to reflect on the following crucial challenges 1)Collectively, organizations must strive to support women as they transition into motherhood. This includes implementing policies and programs such as emergency leave, remote working, and teleworking. 2) The 'right to disconnect' is crucial. Managers and supervisors should establish clear working hours and encourage employees to disconnect during off-duty hours, especially for mothers who have additional responsibilities at home. 3) Organizations should provide support to employees facing difficulties in becoming mothers. This may involve offering more flexibility and, if necessary, additional special leave with pay for medical interventions or procedures. 4)Throughout the year, organizations could consider organizing 'bring your children to work' days occasionally. This allows children to experience a day in the workplace and gain an understanding of their parents' or guardians' roles. The above points serve as a reminder of the important role HR professionals play in the 21st Centuries at the workplace. Happy Mother’s Day!

Yesterday was the third Careering into Motherhood live event, bringing together its community of working mums, speakers and partner coaches. It was hard to get the room quiet but when Jane Johnson mananged to hush the excitable chatter we heard some wonderful insights from the day's speakers. Thank you Isabel Berwick, author of Future Proof your Career who shared the wisdom she’s gleaned from hundreds of hours of conversations with organisations.  💡 The most successful managers and employees are curious and open minded 💡 Anger is on the rise in society and workplaces are getting polarised. But anger isn’t an emotion, it’s a mask. As a manager, take a step back, what is the anger masking? Listen for what you’re not hearing. 💡 Highly talented people need to be coached, guided and challenged. They don’t need to be in the office.    It was a pleasure to meet so many of JLL’s working family network at the event, who sponsored the event and are champions of Careering into Motherhood. Talking to each of them, and hearing from their executive sponsor, what’s consistently supporting the foundations of JLL’s working parents is respect, trust, and communication.
