As a token of appreciation to our LEGENDary team, we had a visit from an ice cream truck at our global headquarters in Somerset, NJ. It was the perfect way to cool down and catch up with colleagues on this hot summer day. #WeAreLegend

When it comes to company culture I think it's important to consider having an environment in which everyone can come together and have a laugh every once in a while. At Grays we're all about getting our hard work done but then congratulating the achievements and wins of the team on a regular basis. What's your favourite way of incorporating a positive work environment into your company? #workculture #workenvironment #companyculture #positiveworkculture

In every team, whether in sports or the professional world, there exists a vital role often overlooked—the 'Locker Room Person.' They may not always be the star player or the one in the spotlight, yet they are the heartbeat of the team. Recently, I've observed this role embodied by individuals like Jamies Winston in the sports realm. These are the individuals who, beyond their on-field contributions, serve as the glue that binds the team together. Their infectious dedication and hard work set the standard, fostering an environment where everyone is motivated to give their best. Reflecting on this, it becomes clear that the 'Locker Room Person' is not exclusive to sports; every organization needs a similar figure. Someone who uplifts spirits during challenging times, ensuring that every member feels valued and supported. They might not be the top performer in their specific role, but their ability to bring people together is unmatched. Removing such a figure from your organization could have catastrophic consequences for your culture. Work extends beyond daily tasks; it's about creating a positive and cohesive environment. So here's to the unsung heroes—the 'Locker Room Guys and Gals'—who make the workplace more than just a job.

Building a brand whilst trying to 'human' is not easy... The last 2 months have been a whirlwind of positivity at Mixtons 2 new retail launches (one being announced this week 👀) 8 festivals 🎪 13 new activation interns joining the business 🎉 1 new senior events manager 👏🏼 And so much more exciting stuff... But I think it's important to highlight what is rarely shown.. Since the start of May I've had 2 days off. My landlord decided to sell our house exactly 2 months ago. Perfect timing. The added pressure and deadline of finding a roof, alongside juggling the business, has led to me not being at my best; Poor email response timings 📧 Being frankly sh*t with friends/family (sorry!) 🥲 Mental overload meaning my thoughts aren't as clear 🧠 And a general feeling of guilt that I'm not able to operate at 100% in any aspect of my life 🫨 Thing is, I know it'll be worth it. How lucky are we to be able to do what we do? To create industry-changing products? To lead an incredible team? To facilitate the creation of core memories for people? It's not easy, but I wouldn't change it for anything. I'll sleep when I'm older... (and hopefully next weekend 🤞🏼)

I had the opportunity to work at Lululemon from September 2023 until May 26, 2024, and while I initially enjoyed my time there, I encountered challenges that led to my layoff. The reasoning given was due to "business needs," following the change in working hour regulations for students. However, I observed that not all associates were treated equally under these changes. Unfortunately, favoritism seemed to play a significant role in employment decisions. Lululemon promotes its IDEA values—Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Action—which is a vision I wholeheartedly support. However, my experience on the ground felt far removed from these principles. Certain associates who had close relationships with managers and supervisors were retained despite working the same 20 hours, while others were laid off without clear reasons. Where are these values when decisions are made that don’t align with the inclusive, fair, and equitable environment the company promises? The workplace fairness I expected wasn’t reflected in the actions of certain individuals, particularly under the leadership of Shane P. P. , Karanpreet Singh, and Karla Torres . There were policies in place, such as strict limits on break times and bathroom use, that felt unnecessarily harsh, especially when others were given preferential treatment. Some associates in similar positions as mine were allowed to work more comfortably, even given seating during shifts, while others were held to much stricter standards. I would encourage senior managers to take a closer look at what is happening on-site. Why are managers and supervisors discriminating between associates and playing favorites, rather than upholding the IDEA values that Lululemon stands for? Although my experience was challenging, I’m grateful for the clarity it gave me regarding the kind of workplace I want to be part of. Fairness, transparency, and inclusivity are key to building a positive work culture, and I carry these values with me into future opportunities. "A Brickie alone is just a stone, but add all those Brickies together, and you end up with a powerful team." 💙 Brickies are first and foremost proud of where they work and radiate it. They are true Unibricks ambassadors and, as a "proud Brickie," never miss an opportunity to put their employer in the spotlight. A Brickie understands that a company can only grow through good cooperation. Alone, you stand nowhere. Excellent teamwork, both with your own team and all other teams, is therefore high on the priority list. By combining the knowledge of different teams and keeping communication open across departmental boundaries, we come up with creative out-of-the-box ideas that are crucial for successful growth. Also outside office hours Brickies like to engage in conversation and be inspired by other sector specialists, colleagues & partners. They also like to drink a pint to scout future fellow Brickies at the pub.

People & Culture Leader • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Advocate • Retail/DTC Growth & Transformation Strategist
We're always listening & learning from our people at Primark around how we can build a culture that fuels performance. This year, we made an overdue (!) change to our holiday observances in the United States, based on feedback from our colleagues & candidates, including through our Your Voice #colleagueengagement survey -- adding two additional days off for our full-time colleagues in the US. This change means that for the first time we will officially observe #Juneteenth this week, following from our addition of Martin Luther King Jr. Day in January. Our holiday observances are one way that we're Investing in an Inclusive Experience -- from recognizing moments that matter to supporting work-life balance -- it's about how we bring Our Value of #Caring and Our Behavior of #Inclusion to life. In addition to time off, we also bring this recognition into our business, with each store creating their own engagement activities -- and I can't wait to see what the stores have planned for this week! Some snaps from past events are below. #culture #primark #growth #development #retailcareers

Brand Focus on Belstaff: I’ve worn Belstaff for many years - in actual fact I was wearing one back in 2002 when working as a bike courier in London when I landed the Harry Potter set design gig. In recent years, the brand had stagnated, and rather than dive deep into nuance and uncover potential opportunities for refinement, they threw the baby out with the bath water and went off brand totally, alienating their core customer base. I’ve noticed recently that they appear to be attempting to blend past with present and future, will they pull it off? Not sure, but the point is that brands are built on stories that last generations. If I was doing this, I’d build campaigns showing a passing of the torch, new communities embracing the past, wanting to emulate the stories but add their own twist in similar or new environments. Brand adaptation at this level is a true art form, and if nailed, can add rocket fuel to an already well respected brand. #branding #brandstrategy #belstaff
