🎉 Last Friday marked the end of my summer internship at Vytalogy Wellness, highlighted by the incredible 600th day OSHA celebration at the Haslet site! This journey has been transformative, filled with significant learning and growth, thanks to the great support from Robert Machado, Chief Supply Chain Officer, Steeve Havel, Director of Operations, my encouraging supervisor Noe Briceno, and all my beloved colleagues. *** During my time here, I deeply engaged with key aspects of lean manufacturing and inventory management: 1. Enhanced #leanmanufacturing by streamlining operations, achieving reduction in operational variances through lot size standardization. 2. Drove #continuousimprovement in inventory management, cutting material over-usage and synchronizing replenishment with production demands. 3. Embraced the principle that #ZeroIsImpossible, learning the critical role of safety and proactive risk management in achieving operational excellence. I deeply appreciate the knowledge gained and the relationships built during this time. I am eager to leverage these experiences to further advance my career in supply chain management. #LifeatVytalogyWellness

👋This past week, Greif interns participated in a week-long immersive intern summit in Delaware, Ohio that provided an introduction to the company, the opportunity to network with many colleagues, and the ability to create meaningful connections with our fellow interns. Firstly, we appreciate the efforts of Tracy Studebaker and Michele Walker, along with countless others in both planning and investing in young talent throughout this summit. During an engaging session and presentation with Chief Human Resources Officer Bala Sathyanarayanan, we received exciting news: GREIF has been selected as one of Newsweek's Top 100 Global Most Loved Workspaces in 2024! Such an accomplishment hardly comes as a surprise, and it is largely due to GREIF’s unique culture. After diving deeper into our conversation with Bala Sathyanarayanan about the building blocks of what distinguishes GREIF, our group wanted to take a moment to reflect on some of those remarkable highlights. During his presentation, Bala introduced six attributes of a highly valued intern: being a business person (no matter your role at the company), leaving your work better than you found it, having a bias for action and following through, being a change leader, being candid and to the point, and being a complex problem solver. Throughout our discussion, we reflected on curiosity regarding our own work and pushing the boundaries and expectations of our role. One key indicator stuck out to us that we wanted to expand on: having a bias for action and following through. To us, this means being consciously change oriented and proactive instead of reactive. It means putting yourself out there even if you are uncomfortable. It means constantly reflecting on our past, energizing others, and asking questions. Being an intern means not just clocking in and getting the job done; it's about pushing boundaries and exceeding expectations by keeping your focus on the bigger picture. The only way to move forward is to get comfortable being uncomfortable. And we are committed to doing just that. This post was created in collaboration with Katie Lucas, Madeleine Bane, Jenna Floyd, Oviyaal Kannan, Raaga Dandavolu, Artem Lavrov #LoveWhereYouWork #Greif #InternSummit #MostLovedWorkplace

Awesome session on Skills Based Hiring and Inclusive Hiring with SIM Seattle Chapter and Year Up last night in Fremont at FREMONT MISCHIEF INC with John Nelson Matt Rossmeissl Saben Emmons and Mj Jensen. Key Takeaways from the Panel: 1) Mentorship, mentorship, mentorship: Keola Ohumukini said it best in that the opportunity to be a mentor is a true privilege and mentoring others (especially those who have less advantage) is important for all of us. 2) Generational Change: The power of Year Up really rests with giving students a unique opportunity to experience tech or a more professional career versus retail or other hourly jobs that are accessible without a college degree. When a Year Up student is able to earn that higher income, higher skill job/career with benefits, we are changing the arc of their career and life and likely their parents and their children as well. Investing in and volunteering with Year Up is a tremendous opportunity. 3) Hands-on Education in IT: Both Mj Jensen & Saben Emmons said that they would have loved a program like Year Up to help break into the tech industry. Much of tech is learned on the job with the right attitude and life skills. Both MJ and Saben have built very successful careers with Expedia Group, Amazon, Bezos Academy and City of Kirkland without a college degree. 4) Get more than you give: Inevitably, Year Up interns are able to push the hiring organizations forward through exposure to diversity of thought, youth, and challenging the status quo. If anyone is interested in hosting a Year Up interns or volunteering with Year Up, please contact Carmen M. or Lisa Soboslai or Nina Gerber. Thank you John Nelson Keola Ohumukini and SIM Seattle Chapter for hosting!

"What is the first word that comes to mind that best describe the TX team or culture? Flexible: The company culture is incredibly flexible. There are no hard requirements regarding time to report to the office, or remote/hybrid/in-person, as long as the work is done and goals are achieved. This allows many of the employees to work at a time that is best for their lifestyle. In addition, the start-up phase of the company means the directives by project can vary quite a lot from week to week, sometimes the vision for a project can pivot; the team is really good at adjusting the workflow and being flexible to match the direction of the vision." Check out the full blog review here: https://lnkd.in/gBDHMuhh Thanks to Sophia Cheung for her contribution and work during her internship at TX last summer. Also thanks to the support from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and in particular the MIT-Japan Program (Christine Pilcavage)
