'Make your Corporate University a lever of your Corporate Responsibility!' This call is not new. It was the theme of the first GlobalCCU Forum organised in 2008 in Paris where we presented about twenty remarkable workshops on this subject led by Corporate Universities from five continents. Since then, we have never stopped encouraging Corporate Universities to play a major role in the resolution of social and environmental issues through the support of their learning and development activities, especially through the GlobalCCU Awards.
Indeed, if the laudable CSR or ESG principles have been knitted together by ideologists, companies, international organisations and civil society, they are only worthy if they leave the drawing board. Corporate Responsibility isn't something that can be bought – it has always been something that needs to be learnt and put into practice. This is one of the reasons of being of Corporate Universities that are essentially pragmatic, to make strategic thinking action, and not just an intention.
So, I am really looking forward to unpacking the theme ‘Society and Ecological Environment’ with the GlobalCCU Membership Community during our fourth best practice workshop on 27 February. Members will have the opportunity to explore and debate together on what Corporate Responsibility is and what it is not, before learning from best practices shared by their peers who have already:
- provided social learning and development solutions to internal stakeholders through diversity management, well-being / health capital learning activities, etc.
- co-operated with external stakeholders, such as suppliers, underprivileged people, Education Systems, NGOs, international governmental institutions, states or political regions, etc.
- accelerated environmental sustainability, reduced greenhouse gas emissions, spread a Society and Climate culture.
We will also work on how they could invest more in addressing challenging ethical questions, curating and teaching scientific knowledge, reinforcing trust in science, and much more, to concretely make Corporate Responsibility an impactful leadership lever.
For me, like for many of my contemporary fellows, Corporate Education gives us hope!
